My claim is that Jakee has a closed mind. He says he hasn't, and I have. That's it. Pretty daft, eh?

So enough of wasting bandwidth; Tommy, out.

'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

If you believe in evolution, can you please explain to me why chimps do not have a god? since its pretty well established that we are from the SAME common ancestor, can you tell me at which point it became required for us to have a god and them to still not need one?

When humans evolved enough to become cognizant of the world around them, and start to wonder were it all came from, they invented (evolved) a god or group of gods as a means of explantion.

"Hell were did that thunder come from?"

" I don't know but it sounds angry!
'Wow something must be pissed, Hope it's not pissed with us."

"Hey I know lets try and apease it just in case, we can trow that virgin over there in to a volcano or something!"

24hrs later.
"Hey that thunder has stopped!"

"Great. I guess we Know what to do next time"

God as described in modern religions, (why is there more then one?) has evolved from those religious beliefs which whent before.

That's just my personal theory of evolution Copyright to me!:)
Prove it wrong!

Couldn't agree more mate. Gods are simply made up by people. How egotistical of us to think that the entire world and surrounding universe was made by some supernatural being just for us. Utter crap. We made up these things as you explain well to describe things we didn't understand. What is so sad is that now we understand things we still have these silly beliefs! How stupid. fetch another virgin there is a storm brewing here and I want to put a stop to it. Ill build a fire!

Now, we don't know yet why the big bang happened,

We don't know that a Big Bang ever occured.
It's another theory.
I personally think, the big bang is another creation of the human mind arrived at because the human mind can not undestand infinity.
We can not understand infinite time ahead or past.
So we create a starting piont, Presto Big Bang.
Then we look at eveidence and make it fit.

A big Bang may have happened? May not have?
May have been a series of them created by overlapping expansion and contraction of large areas of the universe at such a scale as to be invisible our puny intruments and beyond our puny minds to comprehend.

Inifnite Time
Infnite Mass
Infinte Distance
??????
Who really knows

Actually, that's exactly wrong.

It's evidence that drove the theory, not the other way around.

When you look into space, you're also looking back into time because light travels at a very specific speed in space. Beyond that when you look at things farther away in space you'll notice that the light is shifted to a lower frequency due to Doppler exactly the same way that a trains whistle sounds lower as it goes away from you than it does as it's coming toward you. From that you can determine how fast the objects are moving. What this means is you can very easily see that the entire universe is expanding away from every other part of the universe. Run the clock backward and you can EASILY see that the Big Bang happened at a fairly specific point in time (not infinitely far back).

The ONLY issues with the Big Bang are within a time period of less than a small fraction of a second after it happened. Our normal understanding of physics breaks down somewhat in explaining how certain things happen closer to the beginning than that, but that certainly doesn't invalidate the basic theory itself.

If you believe in the speed of light and if you believe in Doppler shift then you pretty much have to believe in the Big Bang.

To do otherwise is to admit you either think one or the other is faulty or that you don't actually understand them.

Exactly. Physical theories exist because we understand the blocks they are built from. If you understand that 1+1=2 you can get to algebra and calculus and if you understand symmetry and conservation and a few more things you can get to Quantum Mechanics and if you understand light speed and the principle of equivalence you get to Big Bang Cosmology.

But fundamentally 1+1=2 is still just part of an axiomatic theory. As long as people hear the word "theory" and "uncertainty" without knowing what those words actually mean in a scientific context, they will continue to miss the point completely. The most frustrating part of these types of discussion is continually having to destroy the same misconceptions over and over and over and over and over...
