Where's the Money?

Recommended Posts

So, for all that advocated the $850B bailout plan. You should know that SecTreas Paulson has burned through the first half of the TARP (total $700B, distributed in halves).

If you look, you can easily see where that money has gone, but once you reach that point, you can't really tell what the banks have done with the money.

This, despite that the government is now a significant shareholder in these banks.

So, where's the transparency? Where's the immortal Rep. Barney Frank and Sen. Dodd to "save" us and see what's happening.

F**k**g fiasco!

So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

We get what we have coming when we expect those who are (a big) part of the problem are picked to provide the solution.

Funny that you are quite happy that we wasted something like $1 TRILLION in Iraq, and our reward is that Iraqis (and much of the rest of the world) hate us for it, but you whine and whine about spending money to assist Americans.

Really? I recently had a conversation with a Marine who is between tours who stated the opposite ...

I understand there's a very strong level of support for the shoe thrower. Maybe your marine selectively talked to people who liked him.

Did you have a conversation with the shoe thrower or any of the supporters? I doubt it ...

If a trooper from a foreign invader is walking around my neighborhood with a machine gun, I'm sure as hell not going to throw a shoe at him. If he asks, I'll tell him how great his country is for "liberating" us - I'll even tell him his God is the one true God.

thank you for enlightening me, you've just changed my opinion. you're absolutely right. since all that money was wasted in iraq, i really have no problem with more being wasted here. and thank you also for trying to switch the subject to iraq. i wish you could switch all threads to the subject of iraq or george bush. i really hate it when a thread stays on topic.

A $trillion here, a $trillion there, soon we're talking about real money.

Of course it's relevant. Whining about $18 Billion for Detroit and giving a pass to $1 Trillion to Iraq is hypocrisy at its best.

With all the companies that were "reorganizing" so the could dip their hands in the coffers, I'm not the least bit surprised. People complain that it was lack of oversight that got us here, and now it's lack of oversight that turned a welfare program into a windfall. :S

So you need me to explain it to you again?
Your post was a clear definition of the term.
Thanks for finally spelling it correctly though.
:)

I don't think you completely understand what a straw man fallacy is, because Kallend didn't make one. He may, however, be guilty of the fallacy of ignoratio elenchi.

if you want to discuss iraq, start your own fucking thread. if you want to call gawain a hypocrit, come out and do it. your arguement that no one can discuss anything because of iraq is complete bullshit.

How can you possibly debate what is a waste of taxpayer money without having a benchmark?

The biggest waste of taxpayer money in the last 30 years is Iraq. That IS the defining benchmark.

That's your opinion ... I would consider the War on Drugs to be the biggest waste of taxpayer money in the last 30 years.
