BHawks 0 #1 December 21, 2008 Yes, I bought into the new administration scare of threat of banning the "assault weapons" again. I joined the rush to purchase a 5.56 rifle, it is actually very nice it is a Remington R-15, real tree camo, with a medium free floated barrel and aluminum forgrip. The only bad thing, it is illegal where I am headed next...the People's Republic of California. So it'll have to stay in WA until I move away or there is revolt. Blue Skies and Safe Shooting. LouDiamond 1 #3 December 21, 2008 I believe you can get around the Ca. issue if you change a few things. Do a Google on "Ca legal AR-15" and you should get a good idea of what needs to be modified."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

Ben Excellent! Welcome to the club. Now all you need is a lifetime supply of high capacity magazines (I prefer the 20 round USGI model for clearance), a nice bipod (Versapod), optics and you can move on to the next essential addition to your tool box: a .308 sport utility rifle. Leaving your guns behind (most of my long guns are in Washington and most of the handguns Colorado) isn't much fun, but the weather is a _huge_ improvement (around here it's rarely cloudy more than a couple days in a row, and it wasn't until December that I stopped wearing shorts on a regular basis) Most of my long guns are in a storage locker in Washington, and most of my hand guns in Colorado. BHawks 0 #5 December 21, 2008 7.62 sport utility rifle eh? I have a Springfield SOCOM 16 that IS California legal because it doesn't have that offending pistol grip. Don't mind what the rifle is capable of in the wrong hands, but you better be scared about that pistol grip. Another thing that puzzles me about the CA laws is that a "center fire, self loading weapon is prohibited from having or capable of having a bayonet or bayonet type device attached or affixed to the end of the weapon as it may cause harm to persons or property." My old bolt action Mosin Nagant with its spiky bayonet is legal...don't get it....

It doesn't have any sights - how you gonna aim the thing? What's a "medium" barrel? Length? Diameter? Congrats on becoming a "gun nut". All the liberals will hate you now. Won't be long, they seem to have leveled off around here. I saw some prices marked down from the same dealers at a gunshow this weekend over a couple weeks ago. I didn't see anyone walking around with an EBR either and lots of them for sale. Even all the classifieds are loaded with them right now. I did pick up a Kimber Ultra Carry stainless this weekend though. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

AggieDave 6 #18 December 23, 2008 Quote Question: What's the point of having a rifle chambered for a pistol cartridge? Ever get to shoot a H&K MP5 or the H&K UMC? It would make you very very happy. Both are really fun weapons to get to shoot. The MP5 is 9mm and the UMC is .45ACP (at least the ones I shot were).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." DrewEckhardt 0 #19 December 23, 2008 Quote Question: What's the point of having a rifle chambered for a pistol cartridge? You can use it places where only pistol calibers are appropriate. like on inexpensive steel targets and at many indoor ranges. And pistol calibers are a bit more fun to shoot than .22. Some day I'll get an 1892 Winchester in .44 magnum to go with my Super Blackhawk.

catfishhunter 2 #21 December 23, 2008 She post on here. (wightout) As for your other question. The 9mm is a blast to shoot. We went to the indoor range last night and went through 250 rounds. The wife put two clips in Osama at 25 yards without a miss. Made me proud. Oh and she is taking her carry and conceal next week :) MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. We must live life to the fullest EVERY DAY. j5okeefe 0 #24 December 24, 2008 Congrats! I also bought an rifle due to the incoming president. I'm just waiting on the backordered Bushmaster barrel. I have an extra upper and lower receiver, but those are both going to a fellow soldier, otherwise, I'd help the less-fortunate. Anyways, have fun with it and fuck the haters.I'll be whatever I want to do!
