Doesn't seem like anything is going to happen in CA. The Republicans rejected Arnold's proposal for a near term hike in the sales tax or the restoration of the full vehicle tax (cut 75% at the beginning of the decade when the state was flush with cash).

This NY proposal to hit niche products/services with taxes sounds much more difficult for business and people to handle than a broad sales tax increase.

LOL. It's happening to me. Ca. sent me a letter saying I owe a 1000 bucks in back taxes and jacked it up to 2500 bucks because I didn't respond to a letter I NEVER RECIEVED. And trust me. Anald is figuring out way as I type to fuck the state. Mark my words.

Well, did you owe $1000 in taxes? This doesn't sound like a new tax, just an enforcement attempt. And late taxes get penalties.

Imagine the howls if Sac finds a way to bill people for their out of state purchases on Amazon. Other states have gotten purchase histories from people buying mail order smokes and sending a rather considerable bill for the sin taxes not paid.

I haven't seen any signs that Arnold is fucking up the state. He's making a good an effort as any in the past couple decades to deal with a lousy situation, and a childish legislature. We're seeing the price of term limits right now. Either we tax more (gasp!) or we give the children less (gasp!) and there aren't many other options.
