Automotive Bridge Loan Passes the House

Keep trying all you like, but I doubt you'll get it through to John. He loves those unions, you see, and has long since forgotten that corporations exist not to provide jobs but to produce a profit.

Saying anything bad about unions is a strict no-no for leftists, because of the massive amounts of funding unions provide them - in many cases against the wishes of union rank & file.

:S

Your feeble strawman won't work. This was never about union responsibility, it is and always was about who is responsible for managing a corporation. Nothing in any union charter or mission statement ever gave a union the job of running a corporation, and no corporation stockholders ever hired a union to manage their corporate affairs for them.

Blaming unions for management's failure properly to manage its workforce is like blaming a parachute if a skydiver fails to deploy it.

I have no problem with supporting them in their desire to do 100 more....

>How much more are you willing to pay in taxes to ensure that that happens? Another $50 a year? $100? $1000? As things stand now, it will cost you about $133 to bail out the car companies assuming they get the money and are slow in repaying it.

I'm not exactly sure where these numbers come from, but I consider you somewhat of a reliable source, so for the sakes of discussion I'll just say that I do not expect someone to share the same reasons I do for wanting to personally spend more than others, just as I would not want someone to expect me to share their reasons for wanting to spend $0.

Am I wrong in thinking that we are going to have to pay this money back regardless if we spend it on the auto industry or in other ways like allowing others to essentially purchase banks for free thanks to the tax payer?

Futhermore, aren't we still going to have to pay off the $700 billion in addition to the cost of the cosequences of not giving a small fraction of that money as a loan to the automotive industry?
