TheAnvil 0 #3 December 11, 2008 I just saw on Fox. It did indeed pass. I hope everyone that voted in favor of this abomination is voted OUT of office in the next election. May the Senate send this bill straight to the abyss. [barf]Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! Andrewwhyte 1 #4 December 11, 2008 So this bill is good for GM, do you think it's good for Ford? I mean Ford is stressed, but what they need to do is sell more cars. This bill will do nothing to make Americans buy more cars. However if GM were to go down, that would not make America buy less cars, they would just buy more from Ford among others. Just a thought. billvon 3,173 #5 December 11, 2008 On the minus side, it did pass. On the plus side, it was much less than they originally asked for.
TheAnvil 0 #6 December 11, 2008 US$0.01 is a waste for the taxpayer in an already obscene deficit environment. At least it was less. Now I hope the Senate kills this abomination. What the HELL was the House thinking? This perhaps? [barf]Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! tumbler 0 #7 December 11, 2008 I asked my state senator to please stop this at all costs. This was her reply: Thank you for your e-mail. It is very important to me to know the issues that are of concern to you. A growing number of my constituents are now choosing to communicate with me via e-mail. I hope you will understand that, because of the volume and range of e-mails I receive, it can take some time to send a response that specifically addresses the subject raised in your message. I do, however, want to let you know immediately that your message has been received. Hearing from you and others through e-mail helps me to quickly learn the views and interests of New Yorkers and others, which is very helpful to me in my work in the United States Senate. I hope you will continue to monitor my work through my website at http://clinton.senate.gov, and I welcome hearing from you. Sincerely, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton I dont thinks she is really going to read my email

Sincerely, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton I dont thinks she is really going to read my email Hmmm....interesting, here is the second reply I received from our Senator after I sent an email about thanking her for her support, effort and national tv appearances....yikes!It has a slight taste of that subtle laywer BS, but overall I think its a generally typical response, decent, short and to the point....There are even punctuational errors...Late last night . . . . we took the first big step toward helping our automotive industry with a bipartisan compromise to provide critical bridge-loan funding to keep our automakers going and preserve jobs here at home. This compromise includes House and Senate leaders, as well as the White House. This legislation is the result of around-the-clock negotiations which recognize that the health of our manufacturing sector is critical to the health of our economy as a whole. We cannot sit idly by and allow our manufacturing base to be decimated by the credit crisis. In order to stay competitive in a global economy and preserve our middle-class, we must make things in this country. This bipartisan legislation is a commitment to saving that manufacturing base and investing in good-paying, middle-class jobs. Now that there is agreement with the White House and Congressional leaders, the next step is to schedule a vote and garner the necessary bipartisan votes to pass it. This effort is far from over, but I will continue to fight every day to protect our jobs and our American manufacturing industry. I will keep you updated as we continue this important fight. tumbler 0 #11 December 11, 2008 I don’t see GE, IBM, Microsoft, Nike, Office Depot or any other number of huge companies not having to go begging to the Federal government asking for the tax paying public to bail them out. Run your company, run it right, know that bad turns happen and ride it out. Let the mismanaged ones fall as the herd is thinned out and weak are dined upon by the stronger ones. Sure it is going to hurt. Suck it up, cupcake (some damn Brit told me that!)

shropshire 0 #16 December 11, 2008 Have they said where they plan to spend your money? Do you think that the Car manufactures will change their strategies now? Will they produce better (more efficient) cheaper cars? Actually, at the moment, even if they did, can anyone afford to buy them anyway? The banks have had a massive hand out and don't appear (?) to changing their stance - they are not lending or even passing on rate changes to customers... what are THEY doing with the money? (.)Y(.) Why did GM complete the build-out of a $700M (+/-) of a new factory in Russia? How is Ford able to have a multi-line plant in Brazil, with its own port for import/export? How was Diamler not able to turn Chrysler around, despite a major infusion of technological advancement? As much as I would like to plant the blame solely on the government, I'm not convinced that's the case, other makers have been able to meet the regs and be prosperous. Why would anyone in Detroit think that a "car czar" in Washington, DC knows how to build cars...So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
