More Than 650 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims

Recommended Posts

Personally, I am astounded at the dichotomy of positions by so many in the field of science. I mean these people are paid to use some form of scientific methodology to form a conclusion. To me, a non-scientist looking from the outside in; should it not be a form of Boolean Logic - a simple Yes or No, True or False.

According to Wired Science, "China's 2030 CO2 Emissions Could Equal the Entire World's Today." http://blog.wired.com/wiredscience/2008/02/chinas-2030-co2.html

Over 550 coal plants as of today in China alone and growing. That goes into "our" atmosphere, not just theirs.

I just know that I would rather err to the side that global warming is true and be wrong, than to err to the side that global warming is false and be wrong. What harm does it cause to try to make our atmosphere cleaner. What harm does it cause to future generations if we do something; rather than nothing?

Imagine a world where we spend 50% of what we spend on wars improving the environment. Cleaning the rivers, the oceans, how we handle our billions of tons of waste, etc. Call me an environmentalist if you will. All I know is when I went on "walkabout" in Alaska and having hiked about 60 miles in the middle of nowhere only to stumble across an old rusty beer can... it makes one wonder.

Anyway, I ramble. Out.

Take a walk through any Wal-Mart and see where the products are made.

China's emissions are really US emissions that have been outsourced, along with our manufacturing capability and jobs.

Only rarely is it that easy. I'm no scientist (rocket or otherwise :P), but some of the stuff is only really clear if all of the context is known. For instance, gravity. It's the law. Except when ... and when ... and when ...

As we learn new exceptions, it sounds shakier and shakier. Except that, well, when you drop something, it pretty much always goes down. Unless you're on the vomit comet :)
There's a whole lot of data, and we're just not smart enough to assimilate all of it exactly right. And in things like global warming, we're still talking about predicting the future.

Professor, I can assure you that I am well aware of our contribution to the Chinese machine. You really don't want to wind me up about that one unless you want to start a new thread.

My opinion is no one is agreeing on what is actually being measured, and how it's being measured.
We are all engines of karma

So now China's emissions are our fault?

You really do hate this country, don't you? I think it honestly pleases you to see Americans fail.

You aren't really that economically naive, are you?

Our corporations outsourced to Asia a huge fraction of our manufacturing capability to get around our environmental laws, labor laws, etc.

So in order that we can buy cheap products, we have boosted China's manufacturing capacity and energy production from power plants that are far far dirtier than our own.

Take that stroll through Wal Mart and see where the stuff you buy is made.
