I didn't come back to bite... HONESTLY. I just logged back in yesterday for the first time since that discussion cuz LisaH finally convinced me to check out a pic of her barfing in bonfire... SWEAR! I've been using an EMR for the past two years and I can assure you that it will either need to be made more time efficient or docs just will NOT properly document. Period.

I think it takes the effort a doctor would normally spend on writing a note, and transfers it into effort spent dealing with the EMR system.

That means that either (a) the doctor has to put forth a lot more time/effort for the same note, or (b) the doctor put forth the same amount of time/effort and basically just cut-and-pastes the note in. Which means that it either (a) increases costs, or (b) reduces quality of care, but that it has very little chance of either cutting costs or increasing quality.

Actually. You're proving my point with continuing to post about EMR in this thread, despite the fact that there's a WHOLE NEW THREAD about said topic. Patients often put stuff in the wrong area that if charting is done correctly then has to be cleaned up by someone that knows what he/she is doing.
