wmw999 2,589 #1 November 14, 2008 John Rich should be happy with the title Shipping in 2013. I haven't read everything there, but I'm interested in geek power Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
riddler 0 #2 November 14, 2008 The other part of this, that they left off, will be: * only available for installation on parts of Antarctica, the moon, or other planets. I'm pretty sure the ignorant environmentalists (note, I am NOT saying all environmentalists are ignorant, just a portion of them), the ignorant politicians (here, I'm pretty much saying all of them), and the fossil-fuel industries will outlaw them in pretty much every part of the earth. If I'm wrong, I'll buy one and bury it in my backyard. I need the power for all my laptops Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
Andy9o8 2 #3 November 14, 2008 Pfft. This is nothing new. Why, in my garage at home, I'm working on one you can fit into a briefcase. Best of all, it's disposable.

livendive 8 #5 November 14, 2008 I've thought for about 15 years now that there was potential for small ("micro"), modular, nuclear power plants to successfully augment and replace some of our more traditional power production capacity. The picture on that website is pretty lame, but I think the basic concept could be totally workable. And yes, I'd theoretically be willing to have such a device buried in my backyard (once I'd had a chance to better assess the specifics). Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!"
