Belgian_Draft 0 #1 November 12, 2008 A couple threads here have touched on it, so i figured I'd start a thread devoted to the subject of when poll results should be released. My feeling is that, since we have early balloting over much of the country, that a time period of one week should be established during which any qualified voter can cast their ballot. All polls will close at midnight local time on the first Tuesday of November (gotta keep some tradition!), with results being released 12 hours after the last polls close. In addition, no exit polling should be allowed within a 1000' radius of any polling place. Just some thoughts. Any other ideas?HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. Belgian_Draft 0 #3 November 12, 2008 I know it would probably never work but it does have the potential to influence voting.HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. Read the thread posted by Amazon concerning Alaska. When people don't bother voting because the winner of a national race has already been announced, I would say that can have a substantial influence on local elections.HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. What would be next...disallow their vote if they are homeless?HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. For that to work you would also have to disable all communication to the outside world, something not likely to happen.HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. But to use that as an excuse to continue releasing election results before everyone has had a chance to vote would be wrong. One alternate solution would be to open all the polls at the same time and keep them open for 24 hours. That way nobody would know the results before their polls were closed.HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
