AggieDave 6 #1 November 6, 2008 Do you think that BO will keep Robert Gates as the SecDef? If so, why do you think so. If you think he will choose someone else, then who will be the new SecDef?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." It's a strong possibility. Sen Obama's lead defense policy advisor, former SecNav Richard Danzig has indicated as much. Danzig is another possible choice ... first suggested one year ago. nerdgirl 0 #4 November 6, 2008 Quote Danzig??? Wow!! Maybe there is something to this anti-christ nonsense after all. Perhaps for those who are members of the "Church of PowerPoint"? Quote "The idea behind most of these briefings is for us to sit through 100 slides with our eyes glazed over, and then to do what all military organizations hope for ... to surrender to an overwhelming mass." - Richard Danzig, quoted in an April 2000 Wall Street Journal article, "The Pentagon Declares War on Electronic Slide Shows That Make Briefings a Pain." Quote "Navy Secretary Danzig announced late last year that he was no longer willing to soldier through the slide shows. He maintains that PowerPoint briefings are only necessary for two reasons: If field conditions are changing rapidly or if the audience is 'functionally illiterate.'" - Anonymous Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. TrophyHusband 0 #5 November 6, 2008 i heard mentioned that colin powell could be a possibility. i think this would be a very good choice. i think he shares obama's views on getting out of iraq, but i believe he will want to preserve victory in the process. he is widely respected on both sides of the isle and he would get a lot of support. i think he would put ideology to the side (if he even has any) and do what is best for the country. I agree with you on all points, but would be surprised (pleasantly) to see it happen. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" TrophyHusband 0 #7 November 6, 2008 i wouldn't be surprised if he was asked, but i would be surprised if he accepted. when he left the bush administration, he said he wanted to go "home and bouce his grandkids on his knee". obviously that wasn't the real reason, but i think there was still a lot of truth to that statement and it likely still holds true. TrophyHusband 0 #9 November 6, 2008 he's a good man. it would benefit the country to have him as a part of this administration, even its its just from the outside like he says. he definately bring a unique perspective that obama couldn't get anywhere else. I hope I'm wrong, but I believe that this will not be a "well balanced" cabinet with the incoming administration. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
