The last group of people who should be preaching the morality of marriage is the Mormons and Catholics.
Once again we see how religion poisons everything.

Funny how 90% of African Americans Voted For Obama, but less than a third voted for 8.

And for all the people that say being gay is a choice, could you please tell us when you made the decision to be straight?

Red, White and Blue . . . pal . . . with liberty and justice for ALL.

Except those that don't share your beliefs... then it's malign and attack. Those are the values of a true patriot, quade and you're displaying them in exemplary style.

You mean like several religious organizations did through their support of Prop 8?

Isn't a major tenant of you "faith" the tolerance and forgiveness of others, even those who do not subscribe to you "faith"?

Prop 8 is persecution of you "faith's" "sinners" plain and simple. The tenants of your "faith" should cause you to reach out and embrace those that the church has seen fit to attack through Prop 8.

That's why I can't have "faith". I refuse to be a hypocrite.

It's nearly the year 2010, and America the "Melting Pot" needs to put bigotry away and grow the fuck up.

"That's why I can't have "faith". I refuse to be a hypocrite"

everyone's a hypocrite in one way or another my friend, whether you are a man with religion or not.

it's simply a matter of fighting to overcome one's hypocrisy and become a more integrated person. unfortunately you are correct. too many people of faith do not do that consistently. me included.

Everyone I have talked to that says they voted yes for banning gay marriage has done it for religious reasons. "marriage is for men and women only" I'm wondering how they'd vote if there were a prop to ban divorce (i.e. forcing them to abide by "til death do us part" in their vows)? I doubt it would pass... then again, it's not uncommon for religious people to bend the rules to their convenience.

Or a constituional amendment against talking back to your parents or using the Lord's name in vain.

I think that some parents of teenagers would be all over that one :P

Its not uncommon for any persons, religious or those who are not, bend their own ethical and moral beliefs to fit their selfish needs and desires.

Here we go again, the seemingly inevitable "slippery slope" argument. Problem is that you're trying to draw attention away from the core topic of what marriage means by replacing homosexual marriage with homosexual sex, and then comparing it to other forms of sex that people generally find objectionable.

The topic is homosexual/same sex marriage, not sex. Try and keep a cogent argument together.

I really don't like it when people slip out of admitting fault or when they're wrong. If I'm going to try and honor the valid points of your arguments, I would only hope for the same from you.

That's right up there with the BS that says we are born into sin.

You mean to tell me that you always, 100% of the time, consistenly act in accordance with your beliefs and your values. Always. You never waiver. Ever.

Yeah.

Yep, to make the claim that one is NEVER a hypocrite is pretty silly.

It's not all that difficult to NOT be a hypocrite. I mean really, if you're going to preach something, don't do the opposite of it. It's quite simple.

I honestly can't remember the last time I was a hypocrite about something. *shrug*

And that right there is why this needs to go to the Supreme Court rather than being voted on by a population in which a majority of the people doesn't know the difference between consenting adults, children, animals, and inanimate objects.

Cool. In 50 yrs, I've never had a significant aquaintance with anyone who wasn't seemingly hypocritical about something or other, however minor.

The easiest way to not be a hypocrite is to not preach your values at others.

keeping your values from others won't keep you from being a hypocrite. you telescope your values even when you don't vocalize them. and even if you didn't, you can't hide your values -and your inevitable comprimising of those values, try as you might- from yourself.
