ATF: Plot by skinheads to kill Obama is foiled

Recommended Posts

I don't think these punks would have been succesful in their plot to kill Obama but thankfully they got stopped before their plan to go on a killing spree at a school.

WASHINGTON - A plot by two Neo-Nazi skinheads to assassinate Barack Obama and kill dozens of other African Americans has been foiled, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said Monday.

Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman, 18, of West Helena, Ark., were charged Friday with making threats against a presidential candidate, illegal possession of a sawed-off shotgun and conspiracy to rob a gun store.

In court records unsealed Monday, agents said they disrupted plans that included robbing a gun store and targeting an unnamed but predominantly African-American high school.

The two men were arrested in Crockett County, Tenn., and have already made a court appearance.

The plot unraveled when one of the men was arrested on other charges and in the course of interviews he revealed plans for the plot.

According to the court records, the pair discussed robbing a gun shop in order to gather weapons and ammunition to use in a "killing spree."

The defendants allegedly further discussed their killing spree to include targeting a predominately African-American school, and to continue their spree until it culminated with an attempt to assassinate Obama.

Glad they were caught. Hope they spend a long time in prison; however, what do you think their chances would have been on the assassination?

The school shooting they probably could have pulled off, but they don't sound bright enough to get beyond that.

Historically? Maybe 1 in 50. 1 in 10 if they are very, very good (and these guys don't sound very good.)

I don't worry about these types as much as I worry about the would-be killers who are smart enough _not_ to be caught. Two plots have been foiled already; that suggests to me that there are more.

We are certainly fortunate that for the most part smart people aren't criminals. These guys decide to comit a crime to enable a bigger crime.:S

Of course some politicians can't figure out how to lie believably about home renovations.;)

It could be that the smart criminals not only don't get caught, but people don't even realize a crime occurred.

These guys seem about as clueless as the people arrested for trying to blow up the Sears Tower.

The thing that worries me is that it isn't as simple as just smart or dumb criminals.

Usually people who try to assassinate the President (successfully or unsuccessfully) are whackos. John Hinckley came VERY VERY close to killing Reagan.

If he had succeeded there would have been all kinds of conspiracy theories about it, but the truth is, Hinckley was just a nutcase who got very (nearly) lucky.

Maybe it's all a hoax. Did anyone get an "M" carved in their cheek?

let that photo be a lesson to you. Support McCain, you're doomed to four years of really bad acne.

I was thinking "man, that guy has an acne beard, that sucks for him...maybe he can pop a few and make it a goatee..."
