Nah, the Dems just found out how corrupt she is, and paid her off to throw the election. She, on the other hand, is laughing all the way to the bank, since she knows they didn't have a chance anyway, once she was picked.
popsjumper 2 #28 October 27, 2008 QuoteQuoteThe task of governance must be performed by someone. What do you propose? That is a good question, certainly not the choices that we have. The problem I am having is accepting that the two choices that we have are the "best" available. As a nation that seems pretty sad and scary to me. Talk about hitting the nail on the head. Unfortunately, our political system prevents us from having the "best" available as a choice...we only get to choose between the "best available"...which is not the saying the same thing. All too often, the "best" is defeated in the primaries because the political bosses support the guy who will play-the-game as opposed to doing what's best for the country. We the people, as a group, are all too apathetic to change that system. OTOH, who's to say who is "best"?My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. MikeForsythe 0 #29 October 27, 2008 I posted a poll here a while back about going to a popular vote system so that every vote would count and something like 66% were in favor of it. I think that would be a good start. That way, voters would not be taken for granted and only a few states garner all of the attention. Think about it, in 2000 we elected a president that did not have the majority of the popular votes. Think how things would be different today if Gore had been here for eight years? Would the economy, environment be better? Would we be in a war?Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!
headoverheels 334 #30 October 27, 2008 I would favor a popular vote, but I don't live in a one-representative state like MT. I would have preferred Gore to Bush, but wasn't exactly impressed with Gore. I think that the choices this time, on both sides (ignoring VP), are better than in 2000. billvon 3,112 #31 October 27, 2008 The latest: ================== TAMPA, Fla. (CNN) — Ensuring that news of the Republican National Committee's sartorial spending spree will remain in the headlines for at least one more news cycle, Sarah Palin on Sunday sounded off on the $150,000 wardrobe that was purchased for her in September, denouncing the report as "ridiculous" and declaring emphatically: "Those clothes, they are not my property." A senior adviser to John McCain told CNN's Dana Bash that the comments about her wardrobe "were not the remarks we sent to her plane this morning." ================== So they are definitely distancing themselves from each other. ChasingBlueSky 0 #32 October 27, 2008 QuoteQuote"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party." If this is true, she's pathologically delusional. If McCain loses (and at this point, let's face it, he probably will), then Palin is going to be seen as one of if not THE reason he lost. She will be done nationally. My further guess is that she'll even have trouble holding on to her slot as Governor. Not really. I'm thinking the GOP will still hold true to the 50% + 1 mindset in 2012. They saw how well Hillary did and figure with enough polish and spin over the next 4 years that Palin will be able to fit into the mold. I hope they do. She'll be laughed out by the primary._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
