Gov. Sarah Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business. .......AKA fraud

The charges included costs for hotel and commercial flights for three daughters to join Palin to watch their father in a snowmobile race, and a trip to New York, where the governor attended a five-hour conference and stayed with 17-year-old Bristol for five days and four nights in a luxury hotel.
In all, Palin has charged the state $21,012 for her three daughters' 64 one-way and 12 round-trip commercial flights since she took office in December 2006. In some other cases, she has charged the state for hotel rooms for the girls.

As governor, Palin justified having the state pay for the travel of her daughters — Bristol, 17; Willow, 14; and Piper, 7 — by noting on travel forms that the girls had been invited to attend or participate in events on the governor's schedule.

OK, kids, this is fraud, plain and simple, I don;t care if everyone else does it, it's gonna cost her next election cycle in Alaska, the country will be watching in 2 years. LOve it that she was selected and accepted, it's bringing all of her skeletons out.

Well, I can see that one. Look what happens when she's home alone.

burn!

Frankly though, I'm not surprised one little bit on these things we're finding out about Palin.

I can't help but be compare this to some of the televangelist types out there crying "homosexuality is wrong" only to be found with a male escort themselves.

Umm...don't look now but I don't think that's illegal in AK.
Please don't dent the planet.

It probably isn't. Heck, they probably haven't had that problem until now. After all, she's a real maverick when it comes to governmental ethics.

It will be fun to see her next rant against "the government giving people money they didn't earn."

Ya don't go into politics for the salary, you go for the perks and other income opportunities.

And with a idea like that you wonder why we end up with fucked up politicians?

No. I really do believe that some people go into politics to serve.

That said, Palin certainly didn't. To her it was just another in a string of "popularity" and "beauty" pageants.

Of COURSE she didn't .... I suppose you picked that up with your magic telepathy powers?

From 2007:

Quote

In their successful campaign to win control of Congress last fall, Democrats accused Republicans of extravagant travel paid for by lobbyists. Some of these trips carried a strong whiff of influence peddling. The worst that can be said of CODELS, and critics often say it, is that they’re junkets.

Thompson’s office said he toured the Caribbean because he now chairs the Homeland Security Committee and wanted to see vacation hot spots to “examine border security and port security.” Three other members of the delegation also brought along their spouses.

“They are going from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday,” a committee spokeswoman told The Examiner. “They do not have down time.”

At the Caneel Bay resort, where room rates reach $1,100 per night, the spokeswoman said Thompson and his wife paid the “government rate.” But, according to the reservations department, Caneel Bay doesn’t “offer any government rates.”

After Caneel Bay, the group headed to Key West, Fla., for a “classified briefing on inter-jurisdictional agency task forces,” a Thompson spokeswoman said.

The Caribbean trip led by Engel, who is chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, explored the “best practices for emergency disaster relief” and energy policy, according to his office.

Traveling with Engel and his wife were Reps. Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-Tex., and Barbara Lee, D-Calif. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., who went to Belgium in a delegation led by Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., earlier in the week, also joined Engel’s Caribbean trip. She brought her husband with her.

Frank’s trip to Belgium and London was related to his work as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, according to his office. The trip, which also included Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis., was designed “to further understand the interrelationship between various issues related to the financial services regulatory structures” of the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, according to Frank’s office.

She's history in a few weeks.

I don't know why you're defending her. Nobody will think worse of you if you finally admit she's the worst VP choice in the history of VP choices.

Nice change of subject, Paul. More of your telepathy, like you "knew" why Palin ran for office?

If I see you go to Starbucks and order coffee your entire life . . . and then somebody asks what kinda beverage you like, what should I tell them?

Hmmm, perhaps that was the wrong analogy for some here . . . perhaps Cool-aid would be a better example.

Extrapolation.

Did you need me to link a definition for you? I would have thought the example provided would have sufficed, but I guess not.

I'm well aware of the definition, thanks. Appreciate the PA though - it's always nice to get one from a moderator.

O'Rly? You think THAT was a personal attack? Interesting. Wait . . . no . . . it isn't.

Well, let's see - you infer that I am too stupid to know the definition of extrapolation, what would YOU call it, Mr. Moderator?

Seems like a helpful offer to me. You inferred it to imply stupidity.

Seeing as my helpful offer that you audit English 101 got me a warning, I believe you are mistaken.
