Truman was sending a message to the Soviets as wll as to the Japanese. Some would call that showing off I would call it pragmatism. Interesting how astute that President Eisenhower was when he warned us of the corporate thirst for neverending war of the military industial complex, and they are the ones controlling our government today. 48 years.. the man was indeed prophetic.
