Butters 0 #26 October 13, 2008 Yesterday, they were an enemy that you placed restrictions on (and possibly fought against). Today, a bigger enemy attacks them and they become a friend who you supply with resources. Tomorrow, they attack a bigger friend and they become an enemy that you place restrictions on (and possibly fight against)."That looks dangerous." Gawain 0 #27 October 13, 2008 QuoteHe was asked about the Taliban and then used Iraq as an example. Sounds like he meant "enemies", not "some enemies". I don't have time today to watch the whole presentation to hear the actual question/answer exchange so I could be wrong. Or maybe not. We have a habit of supporting "democracy*" but not "democracy". In the mean time, I'm going to take his comments at face value. This certainly wouldn't be the first time that a military leader has expressed opinions that differ from the executive branch.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with his comments, I am trying to point out that he is in no way advocating some kind of "come-by-yah" "can't we just get along" type thing. It is an initiative to thin out the herd and gain greater leverage in the regions along the border of Pakistan. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
