vortexring 0 #1 October 9, 2008 What's yours? Don't fuckin' lie - which no doubt most people will. Anyway, individual mortgages don't count - although people who rent out properties - their debt does count! Whether your debts business related, massively huge and significant, or just a score borrowed from your brother 'cos you were playing cards on Wednesday...it'd be interesting to hear the results. And I'm being negative - I expect about 2 replies with descriptions of no debt whatsoever - and now lets look at the next Obama thread... peregrinerose 0 #2 October 9, 2008 I bought a $20,000 retinal camera for my optometric office, will take 5 years to pay that off. It's my only debt outside of my mortgage (which is $155,000) Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
marks2065 0 #3 October 9, 2008 although my net worth is positive my debt is a little large at about $500,000. this has been reduced, to this point, by a few hundred thousand over the last 6 years but i imagine it will grow again because of the times. how much it will grow depends on who is elected. my feelings is that it will grow larger(or shrink slower) if Obama is elected because of his plans like health care. i am an employerer that already supplies health care but i imagine the extra tax burden will cost me. PLFXpert 0 #5 October 9, 2008 What's your point? If "individual mortgages don't count", then for me the answer is "zero". I do not support Obama. I don't think all debt is bad, but I haven't yet borrowed to invest in myself (i.e. my own ideas). Maybe someday I will. I'm kinda pricey, though. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. vortexring 0 #7 October 9, 2008 My points pretty relevant to the current financial 'crisis'. It isn't just about mortgages. We're literally encouraged to get ourselves into debt. How many people ever had a personal loan? What exactly was it for? Who ever consolidated their store cards, loans, credit cards and HP's into a fuck off big loan? Who bought a car from their savings? Or through a lease or PCP? And fuckin' why!? That's my point. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' TrophyHusband 0 #12 October 9, 2008 we have no more credit card debt, but we still use the card once in a while and pay it off every month. the only thing we owe money on (besides the house) is our travel trailer and that will be paid off this month. my wife's car is a lease, so that's might as well be a debt. we like it so when the lease is up this spring we'll be buying it but we should have the cash on hand to do that. kallend 2,219 #13 October 9, 2008 Zero - and no mortgages either. My retirement fund has shrunk a lot in the last few months though, thanks mostly to other people's debts.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

vortexring 0 #20 October 9, 2008 Seems so far we're all fairly good with our finances here. Which is great. Nobodies admitted to being a nutter on the credit cards though! grimmie 186 #21 October 9, 2008 Hmmm, let's see. I invested in and built a bar and grill at Skydive AZ, started an exotic boogie and skydive and fly helicopters for a hobby. I pay California taxes. I have two kids. My wife owes for law school still. Hold on, I'm still adding... I owe about $6,000,000, plus my 48% hit to my 457 retirement plan this month! Hey Barney, Alan, Ben, I need a bailout! Stat! That AIG excursion might be a good start. It's just up the road from me a bit to the St.Regis.
