Andy9o8 2 #5 October 3, 2008 The US's "hearts and minds" campaign in Vietnam didn't work; and it's unlikely to work in Iraq, either. Not at this late date. That horse has long since left the gate. $300 fucking million to grease more contractors' palms for this horseshit. What a brilliant allocation of our tax dollars, when people are losing their homes in the US. This is the same team of idiots who constantly invoke the mantra of "cutting spending." How can this not make any sensible person, including fiscal conservatives, absolutely ill and outraged? If the Bush Administration was the Board of Directors of a corporation, they'd be sued by the shareholders for flagrant breach of fiduciary duty. Andy9o8 2 #7 October 3, 2008 This PR deal is a bad expenditure, John. We're in there; that's a fact, and we're not just going to cut & leave. But spend money like sensible fiscal managers, not like business school flunk-outs.

If you're doing the right thing, but the enemy is using propaganda to convince an ignorant populace otherwise, then you have to counter that propaganda with the truth. You can't just sit back and do nothing and let the enemy propaganda win.
