PhreeZone 20 #1 October 2, 2008 Oh how I wished I owned shares in Berkshire Hathaway Inc... 5 years ago Warren had BH get out of anything that was involved in subprimes. Last year he bought into Norfolk Southern which is up about 40% on that investment. He also upped his stake in BNSF with was up about 40% when he cashed a chunk out, his remaining shares are still up 40%. He warned of rough roads ahead for insurance and banks and that those companies better start stocking up on cash for short term pay outs. Last week he bought $5 billion into Goldman Sachs in a move that pays a 10% dividend on his investment and gives him options worth an additional 5 Billion at 115 a share good for 5 years. Today BH announced a new deal that $3 Billion gets 10% annual dividend from GE investment with options at $25 for the next 5 years. Buffet has nailed every right play for the last 3-4 years in this market As an fyi the shares in BRK.A shares were up 6400 today, BRK.B was only up 170 today. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
PhreeZone 20 #2 October 2, 2008 If you said you were going to buy multiple shares of BRK.A I was going to ask if you needed a new best friend if you have that type of cash laying around. YTD BRK.b is down about 1%, over the last 2 years its up 24%, over 8 years its up 160%. He has a knack of finding the under valued stocks and leveraging his way into deals that no one else is able to get. Look for them to buy some of the spinoffs of AIG if it breaks up. By that standard, they should be able to raise taxes on themselves, eh? Would only seem fair.
