Just as nothing right now stops atheist women from aborting the rapist's fetus (or anyone elses) - did you have a point? Don't forget your proof - you know, legislation and such. rickjump1 0 #29 September 30, 2008 QuoteAdoption.com is a great resource for all aspects of the adoption process, as well as for adult adoptees and birth families seeking reunion. The summer after high school graduation, my adopted daughter made contact with her birth mother and birth father. She was disappointed in what she found and kind of let go from there on. She was an excellent student; excelling in math and science and had the ability to teach. In her case, a reunion was not good. She has since settled down, but I was afraid she was going to get into the same pattern of her birth mother which was not good.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. Nightingale 0 #30 September 30, 2008 I met my birth mother and four other siblings and grandmother and two absolutely adorable nephews (more kids to help spoil! YAY!) a month or so ago, and they're all wonderful and getting to know them has been a blessing. I am very grateful to Kim that she was able to recognize that she wasn't in a good position to raise a child when she was pregnant with me, and giving me up was totally her decision and my family is the most amazing family ever, but I am so glad for the opportunity to get to know Kim and my new brothers and sisters and all too! Being able to look at photos of relatives and say "wow, I look like my sister Mandy!" is really cool and something I haven't been able to do before. I'm sorry your daughter's experience wasn't as positive, but it seems like she has an awesome family already and has recognized that and hasn't fallen into negative behavior patterns and at least she has a more complete medical history at this point, which is always a good thing. It sounds like you did a great job raising her.
rickjump1 0 #31 September 30, 2008 QuoteQuoteIf I were going to be a dick about it, I'd ask, "why not more kids? You have money to skydive, what's more important, skydiving, or adopting kids who don't have a family?" However, I ultimately respect your family's choice to adopt. Very much so. Unfortunately, I do not believe that your actions are representative of a majority of hard 'pro-lifers'. Quality of Life >> Life I'll jump in in solidarity with rickjump1. My parents not only raised their 8 biological kids but also took in 4 foster children who were brutally raped and abused by their own father. One of those foster daughters became pregnant as a teenager as the result of a rape (this was not by her father). My foster sister courageously gave life to that child and he became my 5th foster sibling. My parents prosecuted the rapist who ended up serving 10 years in prison. They never sought a dime from any governmental agency or any agency for that matter. They never just talked the talk, but rather walked the walk. Your parents were very brave and courageous to take on that much additonal responsibility. I cannot imagine myself coping with so much. My 5 year old granddaughter keeps us busy (I had to force myself to look at the actions of other 5 year old kids to see if they were the same; they were). Right now she is a Nanna's girl unless she wants to go fishing or shoot her tiny .22 (she has room for improvement here)..... It hurts me to think of she and her mother not being born.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.

Nightingale 0 #33 September 30, 2008 I'm glad my birth mother made the choice not to have an abortion, but I'm glad she had a choice, and if I'd been in her situation at her age, I'd have made the same choice she did. I'm just not going to force my choice or Kim's choice on a pregnant teenager whose situation I don't know.

Palin is very clear that she will take that choice away if put in a position where she can do so. The GOP platform is also very clear on the subject. NO CHOICE, even for rape victims....
