Lucky... 0 #76 September 12, 2008 Quote Quote Did you read any of it? I don't have to. The "First Lady," just like the "First Child" or "First Dog or Cat," is not, nor has she ever been, a factor for me in any election I've ever been a part of. Unless we're talking Reagan, she was his memory and the changer of his diapers.
Lucky... 0 #77 September 12, 2008 QuoteQuoteDo you believe Nancy had any say in what Ronnie was doing? Or Hillary with Bill? I believe they had the ear of the President (perhaps other body parts, perhaps not), but a LOT of people have the EAR of the President. Ultimately, the President makes the decision. So Bush was right about addressing himself as the decider?
Lucky... 0 #78 September 12, 2008 QuoteQuoteQuoteI think any REAL Man(tm) would do what ever he could make his wife happy (And vise versa). And I think any REAL President™ puts his country in front of EVERYTHING for the period of time he holds the office. John McCain has proven he puts his country first. Has Barack??? Well, McSame puts the rich part of the country first.
kallend 2,146 #79 September 12, 2008 QuoteQuoteWould YOU like to be held accountable for the all the things YOU said and did when you were 21?I damn sure better be held accountable if I were going to be in the white house. As I said before, if Michelle’s thesis was the only thing then maybe I could buy it, but with the "I am finally proud to be an American" and going to Rev. Wright's church for 20 years, it only reinforces my concern.QuoteYou really are running scared.Absolutely, as I have said in other post the thought of Obama as our commander in chief scares the hell out of me. I don't recall you being so indignant about Bush's youthful indiscretions with drugs and booze. I don't recall you being so indignant about McCain's adulterous affair while an active duty naval officer. Are we seeing some hypocrisy here?... warpedskydiver 0 #80 September 12, 2008 At 21 yrs of age I was doing something I was, and still am very proud of. I did it knowing I could die, or be permanently disabled (and did happen), I did it for very little money (well under $1000 a month) and never complained when working conditions were horrible (freezing, frostbite, hazardous, little/no sleep, little food or water, etc.) What were you doing at 21yrs old? Michelle Obama was busy being a racist. Some of you act as if 21yrs old is some sort of irresponsible child.

AWL71 0 #83 September 12, 2008 That happened 20 years ago. How do you feel about Obama's admitted drug use when he was younger? Neither matter and you know it.The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Shotgun 1 #86 September 12, 2008 QuoteThat happened 20 years ago. How do you feel about Obama's admitted drug use when he was younger? Neither matter and you know it. McCain's pulling strings to keep his (adult) wife from going to jail after she stole drugs from a medical charity and had prescriptions written in other people's names is a little bit different than Obama experimenting with drugs as a youth. But I wasn't saying that I hold that against McCain. I was just curious what Mike thought about the situation since he is so concerned about a college paper that Michelle Obama wrote so many years ago. ErricoMalatesta 0 #87 September 12, 2008 QuoteQuoteLast time I checked, the word "was" indicated past tense.Show me something to indicate that her views have changed. If that were the only thing then maybe I could buy it, but with the "I am finally proud to be an American" and going to Rev. Wright's church for 20 years, it only reinforces my concern. Also, if you read her thesis, there are other radical statements that lack the “was” word. Look out America you might have a first lady that gives a shallow and appeasing attempt to make the impoverished minorities a little better! What do you think she will do? Transgress her structural role in the society or break free and use her power position to spark a black panther revolution? Or maybe its just that what spare change there is will go to black ghettos *gasp* instead of just being swallowed up along with the rest of the wealth by the people who control the country... like herself and all the people she interacts with. Historically, that is the job description of the First Lady. On another note, I am sorry about 1 thing now that Hillary won't be the nominee: Bill woulda been the First Dude, and that'd be cool.
