rehmwa 2 #52 September 12, 2008 no, you weren't reading - pay attention he was in service for 4 years but only "served" 1 year I'm sure the other 3 years was spent trying to tear down the fascist establishment from the inside I can see a 4 of 8 split - 8 year contract with 4 years active and 4 years inactive reserve, etc - that's pretty normal - but 1 and 4? ... christelsabine 1 #55 September 12, 2008 Quote .... You misunderstand. What you are witnessing is a bunch of vets calling out someone whom they believe to be a fake. By not stating which branch he served in he is avoiding more specific questions which could potentially out him as a faker. Why do they think he is a fake? Terminology. My opinion is he is a fake as well. You're too kind for this world No, I do not misunderstand. His name is a fake, that's sure. Like most dizzycommers are here. What I do see is that what you call "a bunch of vets" seems to zero in on another vet who does not want to show details. (I'll exclude Gawain, he's never been aggressive in his posts.) Where's your First Amendment here? Let people talk or let them be silent. No need to attack or call someone a fake. But, all those self-righteous hereos here just use this forum to show off themselves.... ("giving limb and life" or such), never leaving out any chance to show a parade. Can't we all just.. get along?! btw, how many times is rhys say "neo-con" I f*cking hate political (read liberal) and corporate buzzwords. Hey team seriously calm down, it is what it is. Time to start thinking outside the box so we can get on the level with these guys and get 'em back on board when we go live with the paradigm shift. pshhh, neo-cons. Mindlessly going along with your materialistic lifestyles, sooo laaaaame (read with berkeley smugness). I'm gonna go slackline the rift, you should totally bring the "bee." Heck if I was able to get an Article 15 for various things, and was lucky enough to have them rescinded, I cannot wait to hear how Lucky served. Heck I was a pretty damned good troop, and even got a couple letters of commendation AFTER I left the service, one from a Brigadier General and one from My Colonel. You and some other guys here only seem to define yourselves over "serving". It's OK to be proud about it, yes - but, if someone else does NOT want to talk about his serving time, where's your problem? Personally, I would not tell anyone here where I worked/actually work. So, what's up with this permanent urge? Are you therefore having sleepless nights, or what? Absolutely ridiculous. You misunderstand. Anything to keep you Leathernecks guessingThe crossing the equator isn't originally a Naval observance. It started with the merchant ships hundreds of years ago. Back then it was good luck to pay homage to King Neptune before we could cross his equator. and umm. . .we need the excuse to abuse the new guys._____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

normiss 893 #72 September 12, 2008 ain't that the truthNavy didn't have quite such specific assignments for some of us. I was in from 80-84, boot was Company 80925 at Great Lakes (great mistakes as we called it), outta boot went to Mainside of the same base for BEE (Basic Electricity & Electronics), then off to Mare Island, CA in Vallejo for A&C schools, I was a DS (data systems technician)working on the Sperry Univac AN/UYK7(v) and AN/UYK20 computers on the Ayatollah class destroyers Kidd, then on to Moorestown NJ to the RCA Missle and Surface Radar facility to learn and later teach the DS's and FCt (fire control techs) the AEGIS computer system that started the Ticonderoga class cruisers utilizing Phased Array Radar. AEGIS Wiki The VLS change was an amazing improvement in response time. I couldn't have been more lucky for a duty station. I'd be more than willing to scan and post a copy of my DD-214 (also quite handy in obtaining a concealed carry permit) but I could care less about impressing the scholarly types. I still stand at attention and show our flag proper respect when the time is right. Proud to have served!
