Remember the recall vote on Governor Gray Davis in California, President Clinton gave his "midas" touch to campaign for him, granted, Gov. Davis was screwed either way, but the Clinton Machine made it worse. Reason: Gov. Davis was seen as a strong potential contender for running on the democrat ticket in 2004 or 2008. President Clinton conducted a preemptive strike.
