birdlike 0 #27 September 7, 2008 Quote >>>>>>>>>>>>Be honest now, does a chiding grammar correction warrant "I hope you go in, you miserable piece of fuck"?! BTW, you didn't insert a comma after the word, "warrant." That must be why I had this extra piece of punctuation left over in my set. It was bouncing around in the box and I couldn't tell if I had left out a comma or a single-quote. birdlike 0 #28 September 7, 2008 Quote Quote I'm blown away by this: Who'd have thunk that a grammar chide would net "I hope you go in, you miserable piece of fuck"?! It should have been a colon instead of a period. Yes, if I had followed with the quote directly, instead of leading into it by posing a question. The part where I said, "Who'd have thunk that a grammar chide would net..." interrupts the relationship between the colon and the quotation.Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

I'm not blown away by it, considering some of the crap people spout here. Was it a PM or a direct post? And no, a grammar chide does not warrant a response like that. It was in a PM from someone who is closed to accepting PMs in return. I first tried to send back, and would have expressed how flabbergasted I was, but I was met with a message that the user does not accept PMs. Go figure. "....closed to accepting PMs..." Not really surprising. I'd post the message, including the name of the sender, if it had been sent to me. birdlike 0 #30 September 7, 2008 QuoteQuoteComma not required According to my university it does, I wish to belive them over you, sorry. Not only should you have said, "According to my university it is," (meaning "is required"), you misspelled "believe" and wrote a run-on sentence. Your university probably owes you a refund. You should check into it. QuoteI really don't give a fuck, I don't spell-correct, Birdman does tho. Another nice run-on. You should have written that you really don't proofread your own work. QuoteNot to mention, the question mark and exclamation mark should be within the quotation marks, unless the author actually wrote it that way. Reading comprehension troubles? I was asking a question that quoted a declaratory statement, not a question asked of me. The question mark and exclamation mark do not belong inside the quote. What university is this, anyway? I want to steer clear of it if I should ever decide to go back for a graduate degree.Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

At least I'm concealing this wonderful specimen of a human being's actual identity. Post the name of such a coward and people here will be sure to tell you that you did the wrong thing. Ron 10 #34 September 7, 2008 QuoteStupid question. Why who wished you'd go in? I wouldn't wish that on anyone for something they wrote on the internet. I disagreed with a poster on here just last week and I get a PM saying they look forward to reading about me in the incidents section. Seems when some people run out of intellectual ammo they resort to wishing someone to die. Last year someone threatened to report me to my boss on account of a post I made here that upset him. I mean, not only is that over the top, but why would anyone think my boss would care?...
