In true "speakers corner" fashion we have debated ROTC medals, Bill Clinton, revenge, TSA etc.

I really just wanted to know if you guys cared if GWB and his boys captured Bin Laden before January.

With all of the rhetoric revolving around terrorism and keeping the American public safe, I myself am pissed that 7 years later Bin Laden roams free. It's just my opinion and wondered if others cared or just don't give a shit anymore. I really could care less about your politics or who you blame. I'm mad as hell.

And nerdgirl. I don't know what you do for a living, but I hope it involves keeping us safe.

If GWB could possibly catch OBL before the end of his term (and thereby save his "legacy"), he better do it yesterday.

If it happened in October, everyone would probably be correct in assuming it was a political move to sway the election.

If it happened between the second Tuesday in November and January 19, it would be a freekin' miracle, but even I would give him credit for finally doing it.

It sounds like the conversation is dying down so I don't want to fan the flames. Just interested in your opinion.

If we knew OBL was inside Pakistan, say right on the border, would you support going over to nab him?

I would, and it looks like we're getting some of the moxie to do so. Recently, there was a US raid inside Pakistan.http://www.nydailynews.com/news/us_world/2008/09/03/2008-09-03_us_confirms_raid_inside_pakistan.html
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

This is where, I (quade), get to actually have a position that is more right than legal.

Yes, I'd be 100% cool with us inserting a special ops group, nabbing him and even just killing him (as long as we get to bring his head back to prove it).

I wouldn't even care if that fucked up some relations with Pakistan.

I don't care about all the other 2-bit fuck wads we keep claiming are the "#2 man." Get the guy that did it. Get OBL.

Surprised?

Am I the only one pissed off that the outgoing administration will leave office without capturing or killing Osama Bin Laden?

Don't you mean, release all the information, video tapes and evidence that thet siezed within n=minutes of the vents to the american public as well as come clean about what is really was that hit the pentagon?

I think you are dreaming. It is easier to kill thousands more people that are innocent, destroy economies and infrastructure and take the money and run...

It is so hard for such a powerful military, so thourough and calculated to not capture 1 suspect.

What a joke

The race was so tight in 2004 I figured they'd do it then if they could.

Ahhhh, I have theory! A Boeing 757!

Running at full speed of approximately 530 mph at impact.

Yeah, I watched the documentary of 9/11 last night.

Yeah, a little. Respected though.

I picture that exact advice being given, only to find out the intel is wrong. Then people get pissed and say they didn't want it to happen in the first place.

Not a shot at you at all. I just think that's kinda how the Iraq decision went down. Granted, a special forces team to nap OBL is different than invading the whole country. Just sayin.

Iraq "went down" due to PNAC policy and their puppet GWB.[:/]

I am very pissed the Clinton did not kill him when he could have !!!!! Thank your local liberal!

PSSST.. arent you forgetting your fellow Texican.. GHWB.. and that Ronnie RayGun guy....oh.. thts right.. he was a friend of the Bush Family.. the Bin Ladens.

Details.. Details.. Amazing what you can find when you do a little reading in Reality Land.

http://www.bushwatch.com/binladens.htm

In the eight weeks since the attacks, over 1,000 suspects and potential witnesses have been detained. Yet, just days after the hijackers took off from Boston aiming for the Twin Towers, a special charter flight out of the same airport whisked 11 members of Osama Bin Laden's family off to Saudi Arabia. That did not concern the White House.

Their official line is that the Bin Ladens are above suspicion - apart from Osama, the black sheep, who they say hijacked the family name. That's fortunate for the Bush family and the Saudi royal household, whose links with the Bin Ladens could otherwise prove embarrassing. But Newsnight has obtained evidence that the FBI was on the trail of other members of the] Bin Laden family for links to terrorist organisations before and after September 11th.

This document is marked "Secret". Case ID - 199-Eye WF 213 589. 199 is FBI code for case type. 9 would be murder. 65 would be espionage. 199 means national security. WF indicates Washington field office special agents were investigating ABL - because of it's relationship with the World Assembly of Muslim Youth, WAMY - a suspected terrorist organisation. ABL is Abdullah Bin Laden, president and treasurer of WAMY.

This is the sleepy Washington suburb of Falls Church, Virginia where almost every home displays the Stars and Stripes. On this unremarkable street, at 3411 Silver Maple Place, we located the former home of Abdullah and another brother, Omar, also an FBI suspect. It's conveniently close to WAMY. The World Assembly of Muslim Youth is in this building, in a little room in the basement at 5613 Leesburg Pike. And here, just a couple blocks down the road at 5913 Leesburg, is where four of the hijackers that attacked New York and Washington are listed as having lived.

The US Treasury has not frozen WAMY's assets, and when we talked to them, they insisted they are a charity. Yet, just weeks ago, Pakistan expelled WAMY operatives. And India claimed that WAMY was funding an organisation linked to bombings in Kashmir. And the Philippines military has accused WAMY of funding Muslim insurgency. The FBI did look into WAMY, but, for some reason, agents were pulled off the trail.
