You'll run along, cool...... I think it's universally known that you are the one correcting grammar, Amazon pointed it out once, I've pointed it out. It's an escape for you when you're stuck; can't find error in the logic, go after the spelling/grammar.

I could look it up, I can even recall the thread, but what will that do, you simply aren't honest about that stuff.

If you can show me a thread where I stopped responding to actual bona fide discussion to digress into digs about grammar, punctuation and spelling, please do so.

I don't think I ever "resort" to that, least of all if someone (for whatever reason) thinks they have me on the ropes in a debate. In fact, as I said (and you ignored) I have NOT been "my old self" picking apart spelling -- except, as noted, to point out the irony of Amazon doing it and making her own errors in the process. That kind of irony is acceptable to point out, I feel.

Now you have two choices, you can in typical self proclaimed "nappy-headed ho" fashion shred this post like you do to everyone else or take it for the constructive criticism that it is intended and maybe change the way that you respond to people so that they want to be on your side and will value what you have to offer. The ball is in your court.

Stay safe and be well,
Mike

Oh, come on, Mike -- how can anyone take your view seriously when you form it into such a run-on sentence?! :P:D

(you'd better know I'm kidding!)

Exactly my point, that's why you're here.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT, you blew right on past the :P and :D to go believing that this post was an earnest attack on Mike's grammar instead of the JOKE-attack that it actually was!

This is unbelievable! It's like I'm debating with a caricature! :D

No America, do not follow Canada's lead in regards to our healthcare system (it is broken, very very very broken). With the exception of ice hockey, beer and igloos we don't know what we are doing and are totally dependent on our nanny state government masters to wipe our rear ends every day of our lives.

thanks for your reply. It kind of follows what I have heard from the Canadians I have spoke with.

what if the gov't came up and said riggers are making to much money. we are taking over your loft and you will only charge $25 reserve repack. How many riggers would leave to find other work? Free market is the only way to go. I left a well paying job w/o good benefits for a less paying job w/ great benefits because I decided it was worth it. would it be worth it for others maybe not. Also would you want your loft run like amtrack :P

Both Canada's as well as the USA's healthcare systems are broken. But at least in Canada you won't lose you house due to an accident or an illness. Haha you just die in Canada (just kidding).

Remember part of our problem in Canada is our bureaucratic waste and the other problem is we lose many of our doctors and nurses to the "for profit" system in the USA. You in the USA wouldn't have to worry about losing too many doctors and nurses (assuming they stay in the healthcare system and don't go chasing other careers).

Both systems are sick and both need attention. Canada's system likely needs to move more towards the USA's system and the USA needs to move towards Canada's until the two met somewhere in the middle.

Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Redistribution of wealth is the basis of communism.

No. Community is the basis of communism. Redistribution of resources is what virtually every government does, including the US government since its inception.

We'll go over the definition again.

often initial capital letter) a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party.

That would be an incorrect definition of communism. Communism (with little c) is an economic system. It does not imply a totalitarian government. (In its ideal form, as described by Marx, there would be no need for government, very similar to, ironically, the libertarian ideal.) Nor does capitalism preclude a totalitarian government. Sadly, it's an all too common error to see government and economic systems equated to one another.

Sometimes, sometimes not. It all depends on what the businesses are empowered to do.

Turning over health care to the government empowers the people.

I suspect it would do so in a greater manner than corporate controlled healthcare does, but universal healthcare does not imply government controlled healthcare.

(somewhat of a tangent)

Typically in the US, you can't lose your home if you go bust on the original mortgage. You'd retain it in bankrupcy. However, if you refi'd it, that no longer is true.

Your response is typical for you, basically worthless. Show me where I, "promised" to correct your memory on Berkely. Since proof is a fool's word, I did not use it. A decade later, I showed the 90's and the current as for tuition, that was the argument, under Clinton it barely rose, under your crackhead it doubled. Hell, it went up here 43% in 1 year under your guy.

"I can cite university data, can you? What univ did you attend? "

Posting 76 - it's pretty clear that you intended to look up Cal's information.

But it's ok - we now know you can't help it, having chosen Co-Ed U for your education. That's why you keep hearing those whooshing noises above you, kept missing the part where I didn't blame Bush or Clinton for CA's historic problems with a consistent budget for the UC system.

Asking what univ he attended means I'm going to look it up? I realize the neo-con mantra requires all others to assume the neo-con position and to "proove" their way away from it, but that is not reasonable. I looked up mine, wholly evidenced my point, now you do so. It's innane to require me to look up the counter-point.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>But it's ok - we now know you can't help it, having chosen Co-Ed U for your education.

ASU?????

Right, and I pointed it out that it is inferrential that Bush likely cut spending that relieved the states so they could continue to fund universities. Blame Clinton, hell, he was the education president giving tax breaks for tuition. But you want to lump your trainwreck with Clinton - sorry,. not buying.

Point is, there are just too many coincidences with the neo-con run that conflicted with Clinton's run. The debt/deficits ran reverse, education, a lot of economic and social issues ran opposite of each other, giving us the agenda of each party/president/congress.

So... what countries have you lived in with universal health care? And did you ever have to use such health care, because i've been there, done that, and I don't want it here. Second largest city in a industrial European nation and the care was awful.

Wrong. What the U.S. government does (BTW, not the "US" government--please :S) is TAX citizens to pay for the things that government, it is agreed, is supposed to provide.

It is NOT in the business of flattening out the amounts of wealth that everyone has. You are dead wrong about that. But COMMUNISM WOULD do that. (Except, human nature being what it is will never in a hundred thousand years allow for that to happen in a real-world practical sense.)

You are correct, "communism" does not imply a totalitarian government, but in order to make communism actually work, one has to have a totalitarian system of government.

What other system of government has the capacity (or the desire) to take from those who have worked and earned and give it to those who have not? To prevent anyone from becoming wealthy and comfortable and affluent based on his own work or talent? What person who fits that description is going to be willing to take his 100 units of wealth and settle for keeping only 5 units of wealth because 19 other people had worked for, and earned, nothing?

Oh, god, do you really think that counts as an attack or a dig at someone's grammar? I simply expressed a request that we "all" stop using a very overused word that really should not be used in the form in which it is commonly used (mostly by news people, these days).

That's hardly the kind of stupid picking-on-someone's-"fat-fingered-mistake".

Do you think that nerdgirl took offense, or felt demeaned by my request? I hope she'll respond here about this. I'd like to know what she made of that post.

I mean, for crissakes, I finished up the post with THIS!:

Yes, the dictionary does list "to strike forcefully," but there are better words to use when our meaning is not a literal striking: why not use "affect" in cases like these?

Thank you for considering my earnest suggestion.

Yet you cite this as me being a Grammar-Nazi.

Since when do Nazis simply request politely that people voluntarily take their suggestions? :S

You just keep hitting new lows in your effort to make me look bad. I think it ends up affecting you more than it affects me.

When leftist, big-government fans want to pass gun bans, they trot out the survivors of those who have been shot to death by criminals who got ahold of guns.

Yet when we trot out people (like you, Nomad) who say they have lived how bad government-run health care is to show why it should be opposed, they will dismiss these "anecdotes" as irrelevant. :S

Then you have a few options 1) Drop your cell phone and internet, and/or expensive hobbies, and buy decent health care. Between $175 to $300 should do it. Or switch jobs, even career fields, to a company who provides full benefits. Starbucks give medical for all full time and certain part time positions.

2) Or live a healthy lifestyle and don't go to doctor except in major medical situations. Save money every month, or buy a major medical plan...

So see the solution to your problem is quite simple. You'd like to make it a complex social issue but it truly is not. Personal responsibility, along with a bit of protectiveness, and all is well.

If you truly feel you are owed medical care then please explain who hurt you/gave you an illness and lets go find them and make them pay for your treatment.
