He's putting his foot down, I guess. This is the toughguy we need to safeguard America from the "tayor-ists," I tells ya. Reminds me of the Simpsons when Homer announced to Marge that he was putting his foot down about something, and did so literally, and then when she challenged him he said, "Sorry, Marge -- the foot has spoken!"Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

idrankwhat 0 #16 August 21, 2008 Is there a subject to this thread? I think Lawrocket started on one but that one post is about as far as it's gone. And on that issue Lawrocket, I heard a discussion about polls recently that I hadn't heard mentioned in a few months. It dealt with the fact that traditional phone polling techniques are having trouble with the younger demographic. Many folks in their 20's and early 30's don't have land lines. They only use cell phones and therefore are not readily reachable. I'd be curious as to whether or not that has a significant effect on the results of modern polls. Or, if that sort of discussion is unwanted in this thread then how about I play along. Hey! What's up with McCain? Can you get over that guy? I mean really, who can take him seriously? He must think voters are stupid or something. There, how was that
idrankwhat 0 #17 August 21, 2008 Quote So, using "W" must have been an insult too? 1) Everyone knows, including you, that the reason "H" is used is to imply an association with Islam. It plays with the Islamophobia propagation. Using "H" or "BHO" or "Hussein" during the political discussions is this season's version of the "Iraq" and "al Qaeda" and "9/11" juxtaposition. 2) "W" is a way to discern between Bush (41) and Bush (43). 3) "W" is not an insult. "Duh..bya" is and is intended to be.

I think the point he tries to make, and has been trying to make, is that the debate should be about Presidential issues. Radical thinking, I know. I mean who would want to know how a candidate would deal with the economy or health care or foreign policy when there are ears, clothing, and wives to talk about? And if you think that his tone has become more sharp recently you're probably right. He's responding to about a month's worth of negative ad jabbing from his opponent. McCain's supporters like negative ads. They used to complain that he was being too nice and wasn't hitting hard enough. Sadly, making up false, sensational claims and repeating them seems to work. Facts and honest dialog are apparently too boring for our electorate, or our media (not sure who to blame first for that one).
rushmc 23 #23 August 21, 2008 Oh, and I think HE said he was black and did not look like other presidents on our money. He said something about clinging to guns with an antipathy for those who do not look like themselves. For the record, I care about policy and positions. The very few he has I do not like. The rest is still an empty suit. I also care about his record. Both in IL and the Senate. I care about his "freinds" I could give a shit less what his middle name is and what god he worships. BHO is a media created figure. What made him can take him down. When he looses this fall he will never be heard from again.
