councilman24 37 #1 August 14, 2008 Okay, Hillary gets to have a roll call vote. Obama doesn't have enough 'pledged' delegates to win the nomination with out a substantial majority of super delegates. Super delegates can vote how they want. Delegates needed - 2,118 Obama Clinton Total - 2229.5 1896.5 Super Delegates - 823 463 257 Pledged Delegates - 3434 1766.5 1639.5 Enough super delegates jump ship, Clinton could be nominated. Shoot, we don't even know how many super delegates will be there. Kwami in Detroit may be on an electronic tether and not be able to go. Ted K.'s health may not allow him. The numbers are soft. Vast left wing conspiracy or wild musings of someone bored at work? No I don't really believe this. All hell would break loose and guarentee McCain's election. But, hmmmmmmm. I bet Bill want's to work on this.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Muenkel 0 #3 August 14, 2008 I think there is slim to no chance that Hillary would be nominated. I also agree with Dick Morris that the Clintons do want McCain to win so Hillary can run in '12. _________________________________________ Chris

I bet Bill want's to work on this. I think it's more about Clinton keeping her word to her supporters so that the more reluctant among them will support Obama rather than staying home or supporting McCain. It might also be a way to help Obama (publicly) justify choosing Clinton as a running mate. In other words, I think it's symbolic only, not a real attempt to get the nomination. Personally, I see it as a good thing.Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Even if Senator Obama wins, the "Clinton Machine" will still try to position the "need" for a new nominee in 2012.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! kelpdiver 2 #8 August 14, 2008 QuoteIn other words, I think it's symbolic only, not a real attempt to get the nomination. It would appear so. Some of her supporters are still pretty bitter. There's no chance she'll get the nomination this way. She would have to refuse it were it to play out that way.

It's an effort by the Dems to show how apart they were, and then they'll come together. A few of the superdelegates pledged to Hillary will find out they lost and then make rousing speeches about unity and moving forward as one party to defeat the evil Republicans. I don't think Hillary wants to be POTUS anymore. I think she'll be Health Czar. My wife is hotter than your wife.
masterrig 1 #12 August 14, 2008 I think, Hillary has been brow-beating and bribing Obama to be V.P. By bribing, I refer to her inferrence that she could swing 'super-dooper' deligates to his side. Under the guise of 'party unity'. If, Obama does chose 'her royal cuntness', I think, it would be political suicide on his part. JMO Chuck

I can ONLY think of one reason to choose Hilary, but it does not outweigh the negative aspects of her being on the ticket so it's a lose/lose situation. Obama knows this.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

You're probably right and I can appreciate your confidence. It's just that I've found, when it comes to politicians, you just never know what might be up their sleeve. In support of your thinking, I would like to think that Obama is smarter than to chose her. Chuck

I've been 'playing' with the same thoughts since I found out earlier today that her name will be placed in nomination. She (and BillyBoy) is one person that I simply do not trust. JerryBaumchen PS) If I remember correctly Lincoln got the nomination on the 4th ballot after a deadlocked convention.

Does Senator Obama have any viable alternative(s) that will strengthen the Democratic bid for office? I hope to God he does! Certainly, there has to be 'someone' he can chose. That woman is just plain evil!!! I would like to think for once, there is actually a candidate who really wants to try to do some good for this country. Hillary, on the other hand, has her own 'agenda' and couldn't care less about 'we the people'. Just my feeling. Chuck

nerdgirl 0 #22 August 18, 2008 QuoteNunn certainly stands out as a ticket strengther. Provided they get along. It's my understanding that Sen Nunn has been advising Sen Obama regularly since March of 2007. Sen Nunn endorsed Sen Obama in April. Last Saturday, Sen Obama cited Sen Nunn as "particularly wise advisor." My speculation is Sen Nunn would accept a VP spot out of sense of duty but would strongly prefer Secretary of State. Even George Will likes him. Others are also speculating about how/if a VP Nunn would impact Georgia in the electoral votes. Although I doubt Sen Obama ranks it high on his priorities, Sen Saxby Chambliss -- who previously was thought to be completely "safe" -- may not be. In a recent poll, former State Senator (& veteran) Jim Martin is trailing Sen Chambliss by only 6 points, as opposed to 11 points before the Democratic run-off election.
