Hey...I'm just glad it was with a semi-attractive woman...instead of a male intern or some shit like the other side of the aisle seems to dig.

Edit: OK, I just want to point out that I said "semi" - That means 3 margartitas

What a dirtbag. His wife is home with cancer and he is getting busy with the mistress. Classy!
The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Yep, that ought to take care of his Presidential aspirations. It's certainly not something I'd condone, but it's not as offensive (to me) as trying to score with a dude while he's on the shitter.

Sorry, but in the spirit of wait and see for (maybe) sure. Has he been pinned with this yet?

Dont get me wrong as I dont care for him at all but, what is fair is fair.

Is this for sure or still just a media circus.

Sorry if I have missed something ...

Can anybody give me a good reason to care about this?

What business is this of ours?

His political position MAKES it the business of the country. I know when Clinton ran for the first term charcter was not supposed to matter. I hope we know better today.

But, please read my post before this one before anyone responds....

If he'll cheat-on and lie to his own cancer-sick wife, then he sure as hell won't have any compunction against cheating and lying to the citizens which he aspires to serve.

In other words, it's not so much the cheating on his wife, as it is an indicator of his moral character.

Put a fork in him - he's done.

:D:D:D:D

Priceless!

In 1999, he told Tim Russert, "The American people already know that Bill Clinton is a bad boy - a naughty boy. I’m going to speak out for the citizens of my state, who in the majority think that Bill Clinton is probably even a nasty, bad, naughty boy.” :D

In 2007, he used his "wide stance" to ask a cop, "Mind if I push in your stool?" :D

I've known he was a lawyer from the beginning. ;)

In all seriousness, there is some statistics going around that say 22% of all married people (both sexes) cheat.

I seriously doubt that there aren't many rich, powerful people who don't have something of interest on the side.

If people are essentially willing, and not harassed/forced into it, I have larger concerns.
Marital cheating isn't illegal.

Corruption, theft, lying under oath - those are major problems for both American govt and corporate leaders.

Edwards 'fessed up. (Probably because he was nailed down, air tight.) He's no moral figure, but at least he isn't imploding with some stupid denial campaign.

So if everybody does it, it must be ok then?

Sorry, this cant be rationalized what ever stats are thrown at it.

I know, he cheated too:P

How about a guy who cheats on (and lies to) his wife after she is disfigured in a car crash, and then later dumps her completely for a new younger (and not damaged looking) woman? Good choice for someone who plans to serve the citizens of the US?

Believe it or not, Grover Cleveland was ELECTED President after admitting to knocking up a woman out of wedlock - and this was in 1888 !

Of course he manned up and admitted it right off the bat, and also provided for the upbringing and education of his child.

Edwards is so far denying paternity, but if one of his campaign shills is volunteering to take the rap for him - why is no father named on the birth certificate ?

Watching ABC interview w/ him as I type. He fessed up to everything. (Well. MAYBE everything) He is a lawyer/politician. Smart move. Break out the popcorn.

Maybe it's the fact that the guy wanted to be the vice president of our nation, and these are his morals and ethics. This is how he treats his seriously ill wife.

I am confounded by people like you who say they don't think these things matter--that the makeup of a man's character should not be a consideration when deciding whether he should lead!

If people like you won't hold any elected leader to standards of morals and ethics that we pretty much can all agree on (can't we agree on faithfulness to a spouse without trying to downplay adultery as though it's insignificant?) then it's no wonder we get crop after crop of amoral, corrupt officials.

Edwards said that he's willing to take a test for paternity.

I want the bluff checked. Is he counting on the idea that we won't demand the check simply because he dared us to do it and claimed he doesn't fear it?

CHECK HIM OUT. I want to know if he's compounded the initial lies with another whopper about whose kid it is.

What does it matter if the child is his? He comitted adultery and admitted it.

The reason it is relevant is because first he flatly denied the allegations of the affair (called it "tabloid trash") and now that he admits the affair, he calls the allegations that it might be his daughter untrue.

How would we know? It wouldn't be an issue, you are right, if he were not a known liar making a tough-to-swallow denial.

Of course, it matters. Lots of people commit adultery. Only the lowest scum of the earth deny parenting a child.

If he'll cheat-on and lie to his own cancer-sick wife,

Elizabeth Edwards' Oncologist considered her cancer a non-issue in 2006, when John had his affair.

Moreover, even if it were coincidental, they obviously worked it out within their family a long time ago.

This is classical republican playbook - not hesitating to take private family matters and put a spin for political gain on them, regardless of the additional pain inflicted on the family.

There's absolutely no proof of that hypothesis.
(1) Think about your favorite WH occupant who was dishonest to the public in a public policy or criminal law matter.
(2) Think about your favorite WH occupants who was dishonest in a private /sexual matter.

If what you say is true the people in (1) should be the same as the people in (2). I come up with disjoint sets of people.
