That would mean you start with a completely empty tank, then add exact measurements to the tank. then run out of gas, and again drain tank to see remaining amount. Wow, now THAT's old school. And I thought the "old fashioned way" was to simply top off twice and do some simple math. But there's a neat thing they have these days. You might have heard about them. They're called "computers". And yes, they can monitor things like speed/acceleration/fuel flow etc., in real time and come up with avg mpg and estimated range for your remaining fuel. No, really. I'm serious. You should check 'em out.
