Casurf1978 0 #104 August 7, 2008 QuoteIf a US citizen is visiting a foreign country, they are NOT protected by US laws, they are subject to the laws of the land they are visiting. I agree with you 110%, but I think the gist of this whole case is that the authorities, US, failed to tell Medellin that he had the right to seek help from his Consulate. Put aside the DP and this hideous crime. According the the treaty we signed if you are arrested overseas you have the right to inform your consulate of your situation. I'm not saying the case should be overturned, but if an American was overseas and this right was not granted everyone here would be up in arms.

Our system is not perfect (like you) but it does the best it can. So someone somewhere may have been killed that was not guilty, but shit happens. I 100% believe in the DP!Nothing opens like a Deere! But (i beleive) a good protion of the country is conservative. Its just that the liberal cry untill they get there way or are on TV. can anybody say ACLU????? As a mater of fact close to were i live "Dallas, Tx", just got a new distruct attorney. He did alot of DNA testing when he got into office. He found some inocent people in jail serving time. As i recall none that were found inocent, where up for DP. We are talking about the DP not just people in jail. In general people that get the DP are 100% gilty. A jury will not give the DP unless they are 110% convinced that they are guilty.Nothing opens like a Deere! You ignorant fool! Checks are for workers! You know most of the news outlets in this country are owned by somewhere around 5 large companies? News Corp would be one of those. They are probably one of the bigger ones and they are extremely conservative. Just something to think about.

I *seriously* doubt anyone's ever had that conversation with themself, in Texas or otherwise. normiss 898 #124 August 7, 2008 you need more accurate datum. It's almost humorous how most people trust our judicial system having never used it or gotten involved with it in any manner. It's not the system we take for granted. I still think it's one of the best on the planet, but not without HUGE problems. THAT is why I don't like state sponsored blood on my hands. I used to believe in the death penalty until I learned more about the system. Growing older made me see things differently too. We do arrest, charge, try, and convict innocent people a LOT more often than most people realize.
