"Why" doesn't always have (or need) an answer. Ya just gotta make do with "How."Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Yep - just like all other forms of life did. >"the method for ensuring that all of the right components find each >other in the right quantities and under the right circumstances has yet to >be identified." We know several possible means. We don't know which one actually occurred.

Lots of people have trouble getting pregnant, or carrying a baby to full term. Many children die before reaching maturity. Our bodies are relatively frail, even we humans can create stronger machines than ourselves from raw materials. We are susceptible to thousands of diseases, and yet still manage to populate ourselves enough to kill the only habitable space that can support us. I'm guessing this designer ain't so intelligent. It's like Microsoft Human 1.0, and we are the virus that's trying to destroy our own hard-drive.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
SpeedRacer 1 #79 August 12, 2008 NOVA had an episode last month about what was Area51 & experimental aircraft. In the late '50s and '60s the Govt. wanted to use Area 51 as a place to build & test experimental aircraft. One project was to build a ROUND, or saucer-shaped aircraft. It seem thatthe round shape can "fool" radar, because the radar waves bounce off it in a way that makes the aircraft difficult to detect. Of course, they didn't want the Russkies to know about it, but the government did test-fly saucer-shaped aircraft. so people started seeing the weird looking space craft, and the government was denying it, so OF COURSE it's a conspiracy (it kinda was, actually, but no aliens were involved) The whole UFO = Alien Spacecraft thing started up, and Hollywood started making a bunch of Sci-Fi movies about that time, and it actually all worked out pretty well for the US government, when you got people walking around saying it was Aliens from Space. It enabled the government to continue its experimental programs, while the UFO people were barking up the wrong tree (thinking it was about Extra Terrestrials) while at the same time the UFO people were also often being ridiculed as nutters.
