TheAnvil 0 #28 July 11, 2008 There are times when GWB is correct - more often than most admit. A lawyer who receives a phone call from an elected official during the tenure of an unpopular administration of the same party as that administration soliciting him to use his position as a political appointee to further the interests of a political party by indicting members of the opposing political party on absurd charges, refuses to do so because said request is unethical, and doesn't go public with that? Bwaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa!!! he's an idiot! He has no credibility! Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! warpedskydiver 0 #33 July 12, 2008 QuoteI'm taking both sides here. First - Rove should have appeared and refused to answer questions he felt asked for privileged info. Just flat out not showing IS contempt - plain and simple. On the other hand, the Congress turned this into a political stunt. Protestors in the witness box calling for his arrest? WHAT??? How does a politician deal with contempt of Congress? By acting in a contemptible manner. These are the leaders of our country. Pass the Tylenol... Agreed. It's as if the Democrats use the protesters like some bused in cheer leading squad.

The Pelosicrats have really made a shabby showing for themselves, all bluster and no action. But as for an enforceable contempt citation, that's not going to happen. There are only 191 days left to this administration (thank God almighty) and Rove can certainly hire the caliber of legal firepower to keep his heinie out of stir for six more months. Then he would almost certainly (99.9% chance) be pardoned by Boy George. Unless of course, Bush had some petty or selfish reason not to pardon him. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity ! If this Congress doesn't charge Rove for contempt of Congress, could the next Congress do it (after Bush leaves office)? Or, do the charges have to be made by the Congress against which the offense was made?Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! idrankwhat 0 #39 July 18, 2008 Update: Rove had until three days ago to appear. I just called the House Judiciary Committee and asked them what the next step was. The guy that answered the phone said they were still working that out but should decide within a few days. I wrote that off as a standard non-reply but I wanted to let him know some people were still paying attention. If you want to check in for yourself and help make some noise, use the phone number. The email form on the website doesn't work. Someone has to make sure that they do their job even if they don't want to.
