Iran Test-Fires 9 Missiles to Show 'Might'

The only people content with Iraq's behavior in 2002 were those who were opposed to all war, and those who had financial interests in the status quo.

Uh lets not forget those who did not want their kids sent off to a war that seemed useless... when we already had a perfectly good war against people who had actually attacked us.

Some of us believe in finishing a job before going off on another and leaving the other job half done.>:(

Basically it boils down to fundamentalism and how fanatical our fundamentalists are as opposed to their fundamentalists.

There's a thought. Let's unleash the Southern Baptists on them. Funny though, even as fundamentalist as the Southern Baptists can be, you never hear them espousing killing another culture because that culture doesn't believe what the Southern Baptists believe. The Southern Baptists just want to convert them.

As hard as this is for me to say, maybe we're starting to get too civilized for our own good. The world really needs a clear winner right now. A very clear winner. Let's hope it's us.

Here you go again with this "clear world winner" bullshit.

And it is exactly that. Bullshit.

Rather than acting like we can muscle our way out of it (which we can't), perhaps we should demonstrate a little humility, grasp for an ounce of respect, and focus our resources on (our own) local affairs.

About 500 as I recall. Do you recall what it was doing in Iraq?

Yes, I do. Do you?

>Hussein betrayed his country for personal gain, and they paid dearly for it.

There is no doubt about that. But to go back to your example, that's like throwing a paroled criminal back in prison because he went to a casino, gambled and lost a lot of money.

Add "gambled with money he stole from his tribe" to the sentence.

Hussein betrayed his country for personal gain, and they paid dearly for it.

Gee does this sound like anyone else we might have seen in action now for a few years???

We're paying, but not nearly the price his subjects were, and we even got to vote on it a few times. Even with a Democrat majority, we're still there, so how much of the blame must the American people accept? More than none.

So how does your historical whitewash explain the Clinton directed bombings in 1998?

There's nothing whitewashed about it. You're the one that keeps making claims about history based in imagination rather than fact.

Still, the US' misguided foreign policy easily predates Bush (either one).

Quote

Hussein's compliance was on par with a convicted murdered who ditched half his meetings with his parole officer. If he was so cooperative, why did nearly all Congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle point to his non compliance as a threat?

They also pointed to (and based, in part, their authorization for the use of force) to the "fact" that Hussein had WMD.

Since I fall in neither of those categories, and I was content with Iraq's behavior in 2002, your theory is bunk.

Well, since it actually did happen, it's much more useful to talk about wrt legality.

Since what happened? The US attacking a sovereign without evidence to support any danger posed by that country?

Quote

With Iran we have only a lot of hot air coming from a lot of national leaders.

That's not really any different from the US, is it?

Quote

And if you don't think the evidence of Syria's actions was compelling, you'll need to define 'evidence' for me before I can answer your first question.

You'll have to explain how a reactor is evidence of a weapons program and not a nuclear energy program. Few technologies cannot be used for both benevolent and destructive purposes.

Quote

The generic answer, however - every nation has the right to self defense, and that includes preemptive attacks, particularly against those that do not acknowledge your right to exist.

Even when there's no danger. Sounds like anarchy with a healthy dose of paranoia.

Quote

If Iran wants to assure the world it's only pursuing an energy program, it can allow the nuclear inspections.

News flash: They do.

Quote

If it wants to pursue a weapons program, it can withdrawl from the NPT and face the consequences.

Yes, but we've seen no evidence of them wanting to pursue a nuclear weapons program.

Quote

If it wants to try to do it secretly, well anything can happen. But it shouldn't be shocked if Israel overreacts to protect themselves.

Nor should they be surprised when the UN turns a blind eye to Israel's illegal actions, aka the status quo.

Christianity has its share of extreme fundamentalists. Eric Rudolph comes to mind as well as other abortion clinic bombers. Rudolph had a lot of community support.

I like keeping track of the lunatic fringe... and it somehow tends to match up nicely with a few poster's points - sort of like you accuse everyone right of you of only listening to limbaugh.

Imagine that...so do I - but the people I see aren't blue state hystericals.

If your posts are consistent with your ideology, all those test results show is the test is way out of calibration. You're pretty far right of center, to put it mildly.
