Pizza 4 Patriots

This guy in Chicago sent over 2,000 Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizzas (Lou Malnati's is some of the best around, the best pizza in town depending on who you ask) to our troops for 4th of July. DHL donated the means to get all the food over to Iraq and Afghanistan. Even Gen Petraeus sent him an email on it. They wanted it to be a surprise but coverage from CNN and MSNBC ruined it for them. As of this morning they are sitting in Bahrain waiting out a sandstorm happening in Iraq and waiting on final security clearance to head to Afghanistan.

Just thought it was cool to hear some good news going into this holiday. Also he may be doing this again soon.

The war, and specifically reporting of it. In a Terry Gilliam movie, the news reports wouldn't be talking about how the war was progressing - they'd be doing pieces on Pizza for the Troops and how Mitzi the Adorable Army Pooch (recovering from a nasty war wound) was adjusting to life on the front lines.

Then there would be a scene where a group of Marines in the Afghani mountains were waiting on a supply drop for much-needed medical supplies - and open the crate to discover a pile of pizza.

(It's great that someone wants to send them pizza. It's odd that it's news.)

nonsense, it's some hairy armpit anti-war nutjobs trying to kill the soldiers - through high blood pressure and heart disease.

ohhh, it's really quite insidious and ingenius and lethal - they are NOT playing games here, people

I do not understand why you think this is odd to be news. It is no more odd than this http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/07/01/naked.cowboy/index.html

or any other fluff piece about Britney, Paris, or "cute dog adopts baby duck stories" :S

I personally like to hear news stories where people are doing what they can, to tell the troops they are loved.
something funny and unique
