Gawain 0 #2 June 29, 2008 100,000 Blackwater contractors in Iraq huh... *cough*bullsh*t Figure, somewhere well under that, 20,000-30,000 private contractors. I never saw any of those guys in Iraq when I was there, but the reality of what they work with is way different than what our servicemen work with. First of all, the author of the agenda-ridden-video neglects to point out that the majority of these contractors are placed in roles of "Peronnel Security Detachments" (PSD) for diplomats, government and high-profile positions. There isn't a "division sized" element running around unchecked blowing people away. Their Rules of Engagement are definitely different though, reason being, they don't have a guarantee of US or coalition military support if they get pinched. A four man PSD is just that...not a fire-team with a 100 man Company at their back with communications to call in a Cobra or Apache to shoot a Hellfire missile up someone's @ss...So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! They have blanket immunity to the laws. Fuck the ROE. They can do what they what when they want w/ impunity. When ya going to go to work for them? When your buddy MCc?ain gets elected? Bring me back a few gallons/barreles of oil will ya.I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. Gawain 0 #4 June 29, 2008 Quote They have blanket immunity to the laws. Fuck the ROE. They can do what they what when they want w/ impunity. You obviously forgot the cancellation of their contract and revoking of their license in Iraq last year. The contract was then extended, and the impunity does not exist as it may once have. Quote When ya going to go to work for them? I don't think I'm eligible for the type of work they have that would interest me. Quote When your buddy MCc?ain gets elected? Bring me back a few gallons/barreles of oil will ya. I think you're bringing this stuff up a bit behind the curve of actual events. When faced with realities, you resort to trying to tie me in as some kind of lackey in cahoots with "the evil oil companies, evil defense contractors, and clearly evil friend of the President".... The reality is, most of the Blackwater contractors there are providing PSD, to a wide number of people over there. They are not involved in coalition offensive operations and if you or I were part of a small PSD, with no guarantee of back-up, I imagine our perspectives would be quite different. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Gawain 0 #6 June 30, 2008 <=== Now totally confused...you post year-plus-old youtube links criticizing Blackwater. Then ask me when I'm going to "work" for them. Then post a pro-Blackwater link? Was the whole thing tongue-in-cheek? Need more smiley's or something...So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
