Probably the most affluent suburb of Cleveland. Somehow I'm not surprised. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
BillyVance 35 #2 June 27, 2008 So stupid! Sounds a bit similar to this from England: http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/8288178?MSNHPHMA No more trophies to be handed out. AWL71 0 #3 June 27, 2008 What a total load of crap! I am going to sue Harvard because they didn't give me a scholarship. That is so not fair. You get what you earn in this life. Harvard didn't give me a scholarship because I didn't earn it. Some kids are good enough for All-Stars and some aren't. Glad this BS isn't going on here. My 8 year old is actually playing in the state (GA)tournament tomorrow in the 7-8 year old division. A total of 16 teams go to state. The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
StreetScooby 5 #4 June 27, 2008 This is ridiculous. My 10 year old daughter tried out for the "traveling soccer team" in my town last year. She didn't make it. She was unbelievably upset, and we all got to deal with it as a family. This year, the coach of the team approached my wife and said some of the kids on the traveling team weren't cutting it, and wanted my daughter to try again. Why? Because she didn't quit and went out and kept making her own way. Kids need to realize that. jimmytavino 16 #9 June 28, 2008 when we were kids,, in grade school we were allowed to play softball at lunchtime during recess..... we had at the time two classes for each grade level so that the one 6th grade would play the other 6th grade, and the one 8 th grade, would play the other 8th grade etc.. etc. well one day a guy in my class says to Joey E. who was our self - appointed captain,,, "joey,,, how come when it's our turn to play ball,,, you only pick certain players, and others don't get chosen......???Joeys' reply???... 6 th grade .. mind you !!!....... was..... .. .. " because You Suck!!!, and we're better "!!!!..... plain and simple....sorta put life right into focus with that line... and 40 years later,, i still remember it.... for it's brevity, it's accuracy , it's finality...and it's harsh reality..if you want to participate in ANYthing,,, acccept that it will take time, effort, energy, a good attitude,,, and if you're lucky some skills.. If the skills are lacking then it will take twice as much time, effort, energy, and attitude... you snooze you lose..... i never agree with the concept of striving for the least common denominator.... take it to the next level.. or take it home... The great thing about humans, is the wide variety of strengths, weaknesses, abilities, and lack thereof..... can't parents and educators learn to be on the lookout for what it IS that each person excells at...??? whether it be art, or music , or sport, or science.. Try to encourage any and all such talents,, without overly emphasizing one thing above another... jimmy ps.. i played center field on joeys' team...
