cumplidor 0 #1 June 12, 2008 Did anyone of you know this about the potential Presidential ex? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1024927/The-wife-John-McCain-callously-left-behind.html
lawrocket 3 #2 June 12, 2008 Everyone who has read up at all on McCain knows about it. So why hasn't it been an issue? Because long ago, McCain owned up to it, and he has never failed to acknowledge it when asked. I have my issues with McCain. I have my issues with a number of things he did. But he owned it. And when people own it, it has a way of becoming a non-issue. What's to confront a person about when the person says, "Yes. I did." So in a sense he has turned a story into a non-story. My wife is hotter than your wife.
cumplidor 0 #3 June 12, 2008 Oh. It's not like he could lie about it, and he wasn't evil enough to have her popped off like that dick brain in Florida who had the Judge do it for him. I personally didn't know this but I should have known this bunch would have already knew. A bit surprised at your nonchalant attitude though. I just wondered if that was a moral trait our potential 'leader' should have? I imagine Obama is gonna get it anyway, so it really doesn't matter. He is the media darling after all.. Reminds me of the way Clinton was portrayed in the early 90s.
lawrocket 3 #4 June 12, 2008 QuoteA bit surprised at your nonchalant attitude though. I'm not nonchalant about it. It simply is what it is and there is no dispute about whether it happened or not. It did, and McCain has acknowledged it. QuoteI just wondered if that was a moral trait our potential 'leader' should have? It's tough to say. I mean, if he was presently philandering, I'd say there is an issue of his self control which would make me take greater note. But the fact that it was over 30 years ago, and he has openly acknowledged it and, seemingly, regretted it is an issue. He himself has intimated that he has grown up. That speaks honestly about his perception of his immaturity back then. He's not holding himself as holier than thou. He's not wagging his finger and denying it. QuoteReminds me of the way Clinton was portrayed in the early 90s. To me, not so much, because Clinton was described as presently actively doing it, and denying it. Recall the "Bimbo Eruptions" and the team that Betsy Wright put together to immediately respond to any Bimbo with an allegation. Nevertheless, there is some issue that has been frequently spoken of about McCain regarding his hot temper and his impetuousness. The past philandering is consistent with that. My wife is hotter than your wife.

If he learned from it and went on with his life, good for him. Needless to say, if he starts bringing up how he thinks divorce is evil, or how he never goes back on his word it will be an issue. Let's hope he doesn't go there.

Regarding Clinton, I was referring to Obama being the media darling, which reminded me of when Clinton was way back when.
cumplidor 0 #7 June 12, 2008 To me, coupled with his other character traits, would seem to indicate a pattern of instability that really makes me question his ability to lead anything. He can't even remember what the heck he votes for, and watching some of his interviews really scare me (more than W's?- not sure) . I seriously doubt he will beat Obama, he will probably flip sometime before elections and make sure of that. Or just keep up the interviews like the one he had the day he 'officially' got his new opponent and that will have the same effect.

I don't think he's unstable (at least, no more unstable than any other DC politician.) I think he'd make a decent president, and if the choice was between him and Clinton I'd definitely tend to lean towards him.
