JohnRich 4 #1 June 4, 2008 News:“Gun-toting Yanks” not welcome in Toronto Toronto mayor David Miller announced measures to be taken to keep legally owned guns out of Toronto, last week. The proposal calls for the use of zoning and other bylaws to prevent new gun clubs, firing ranges and firearm manufacturers from opening within city limits. The city also intends to cancel leases that Toronto holds with two gun clubs and it will be illegal for anyone to store firearms anywhere within Toronto’s boundaries. ...a letter to the editor from Councillor Adam Vaughan, a left wing supporter of David Miller: "Considering that most of the problems with guns on our streets emanate from south of the border, I couldn’t be happier. If all it took was closing a couple of shooting ranges to stop gun-toting Yanks from coming to our city, maybe we should have shut the doors on these clubs years ago."Source: Canada Free Press

I'm sure the good Professor will be here shortly to explain how all the Toronto crime is due to the lax gun laws in NY state and Michigan, allowing all those eeeeeevil guns to cross the border and run wild through the streets of Toronto.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. JohnRich 4 #5 June 5, 2008 Update:Mayor triggers gun club anger Gun enthusiasts, including an Olympic sport shooter, confronted Toronto Mayor David Miller yesterday over his plan to shut down two shooting ranges on city property and ban all new gun clubs, persuading his executive committee to offer a kind of reprieve. After nearly six hours of hearings and debate, the mayor and his executive committee voted to recommend that city council allow the two gun clubs to relocate to private property, since the city's proposed ban would not affect existing gun clubs on private land. Earlier, gun club members told the committee the proposal would target law-abiding gun owners, not criminals. "I've never met a gang member at any shooting range in Canada," said Avianna Chao, a member of Canada's pistol-shooting team who has trained at both ranges and is heading to Beijing this summer... Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong called the crackdown on the two shooting ranges "gratuitous symbolism" that would have little effect. "I think this report is shooting blanks, Mr. Mayor," he said.Source: Globe & Mail
