happythoughts 0 #1 June 1, 2008 During the Superbowl Flash, a member of the increasingly dysfunctional Jackson family made a grandiose grab for the public attention. The scene: A person reaches over a grabs a piece of a womans apparel that is velcro-ed on for easy removal. (Personally, the only people who I know that have easy-grab vecro flaps on their boobs are nursing mothers who expect them to be removed regularly.) Secretly, I suspect it was a planned stunt. It has been referred to as a wardrobe malfunction. Other famous ones generally involved large-breasted actresses with failing careers who let a strap fall to expose one of their talents. The pic appears everywhere, fame restored momentarily. However, none of these things recur, with the exception of Paris Hilton. PH doesn't call them "malfunctions". She takes full responsibility for displaying her wares. Sadly, the people who we respect least, are the most honest. So, how does Hillary keep making the Vocabulary Malfunctions and then saying that she "mis-spoke". It could be many things: Misspoken. VM. An accident of using the face and the brain. Outright lie for political advantage that makes headlines. When is the next one? (I think a pool should go by days, not weeks.) Why is an attorney (the industry of careful speaking) so confused? Would she continue to do this a lot as president? "Madame President, the Japanese PM wife..." "Paris Hilton has the same dress. Any pics of your crotch on the internet?" Candidates make "sound bites" and represent them as facts without fleshing out the detail. It has spawned a research industry now. (I am surprised that HC hasn't changed her ways, in view of the fact that she gets repeatedly busted.) People put stuff on the internet. If it gets repeated enough, it becomes an "internet fact". Of course, SNOPES could never keep up with all the urban legends.
