lawrocket 3 #2 May 24, 2008 Did any Germans boycott the other flicks because it painted Nazis as power hungry and evil? I wonder if Andreyev made those comments while standing at a podium and beating his shoe on it. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Or us Brits, when Holywood claimed that America captured the Enigma machine or cast Brits as most crims in films like Die Hard ... or that Dick Van Dyke is a cockney etc.. BillyVance 35 #4 May 24, 2008 Who? The Russians?? Aw fuck 'em. I don't remember them complaining about the Rambo movies. Did they? You're definitely making a good example of why so many people around the world are so concerned about America and Americans. Quote I don't remember them complaining about the Rambo movies. Did they? Yes. In fact, 2nd and 3rd parts of "Rambo" was banned from USSR. And the reason you don't "remember" it is probably that nobody wrote about it on dropzone.com :P* Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *

You wouldn't definitely like some of them :) I probably would. Unlike many, I can take a joke. But I always found Pravda's review of American movies to be hilarious - I can recall their reaction to High Noon. Didn't see Gary Cooper as a role model, I guess. Of course, he wasn't for the commie model of society.
georgerussia 0 #18 May 25, 2008 Quote I probably would. Unlike many, I can take a joke. Me too. But a lot of people can't - especially older people. Quote But I always found Pravda's review of American movies to be hilarious - I can recall their reaction to High Noon. In USSR I have never seen Pravda reviewing any movies. It was a purely political newspaper - you'd rather read there about segregation, children dying without health insurance, and amazing costs of medical school (which was free in USSR, like any other school). In USSR when the movie was banned, you'd never hear about it - you just wouldn't know such a movie has ever been released. Modern "Pravda", like modern Communist party, is just a piece of crap, a weak shadow of what was a backbone of a huge country. Still, "fuck them" is not something I would consider a reasonable response.* Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
ElJosh 0 #19 May 25, 2008 Quote Still, "fuck them" is not something I would consider a reasonable response. Why not? That is a similar attitude towards America these days. It's a damn movie, get over it. What about Superman when he was kicking Nazi and Commie ass? Yes, the Cold War is over but that's only because Communist Russia fell, not because we started thinking the communist way was a good thing. ~El Josh AKA RubyDS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
