lawrocket 3 #1 May 20, 2008 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080520/ap_on_bi_ge/blind_money Another "No Shit" moment. The blind can't tell the difference between a One and a Fifty without relying on others. And, as I'm sure we all know, not everyone is honest out there. Hopefully, the US Mint will get its shit together and make some changes that will make it easier for the blind to determine what bill is what. This is one example where I can say, "They do it in England" and believe wholeheartedly that it makes sense. While we're at it, get rid of paper One Dollar Bills altogether. My wife is hotter than your wife.

kelpdiver 2 #3 May 20, 2008 how much will it cost for all the vending machines to be updated yet again? The time to do this was when all of the paper bills were redesigned. Not a year after.
ryoder 1,590 #4 May 20, 2008 I get so damned tired of the idiocy that the world should be modified to accomodate the handicapped, rather than providing the handicapped the means to adapt to the world. 1974 patent: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3906449.html An example: http://www.brytech.com/noteteller/"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. BillyVance 35 #5 May 20, 2008 My deaf/blind clients, when I take them to the store for food shopping, they pay in $20 bills. I then have to sign to them what the change in smaller bills are. They have a separate pocket to put their 1s, 5s and 10s in. Not a year after. I don't think its necessary to change the size of the bills. Just add in some very minor marks that can be felt.www.FourWheelerHB.com

downwardspiral 0 #8 May 20, 2008 Actually that's a good idea until some asshole embosses bills incorrectly intentionally. And you know they will. The note reader is the best idea but at $300.00? Ouch.www.FourWheelerHB.com

QuoteWhile we're at it, get rid of paper One Dollar Bills altogether. Disagreed, wholeheartedly. I much prefer paper money to coins. I would much rather see a debit-like card to which retailers can apply loose change instantly at the point of sale.Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! They can also replace the paper with very thin plastic, which a lot of countries have already done. Plastic bills are more durable than paper as well. I've seen some Australian dollar bills and (old, pre-Euro) Swiss Francs on sheer thin plastic and they were really cool. Should be much easier to emboss as well.
