Dear fellow Jew,

That is how a six page letter I received in the mail today started...

This letter was the retelling of a single bible verse, as documented on page seven of said letter, fine print, legal size paper. The original authors seemed to get'er'dun in a few words, yet this letter takes pages of fine print to say the same thing.

The letter ends: I found your address in the phone book, and no further letters will be sent.

Do the white pages have a "jewish section"? Is it before the government pages or after?

Here is the problem. I am not Jewish. Never have been. Never will be. The letter does not address this problem or give me options. My last name is somewhat Jewish, but I came from a long line of god fearing and sometimes god hating catholics. Hence I retired from religion, I already did my part, my ancestors did theirs too.

So, please do me a favor.

A letter that starts;

Dear fellow (insert your religion and/or ancestry here),

Type a long diatribe on why everyone in your religion and/or ancestry are not following the "rule book" (Bible, Torah, koran, etc) of your religion. Find a simple passage and type a six page letter about it.

Sign the letter first initial and last name.

And end it with:

P.S. My non-jewish friend from Colorado gave me your address appreciative that you care about his complete disregard for the scripture that apparently his last name requires him to believe.

This initially might cause offence, it isn't my intention to do so. When I was a kid, to be a 'bit stingy', i.e. tight, non-generous, etc; made you a 'Jewish bastard.'

I've always wondered why everyone finds it reasonable to hate the Jew. Whether they're blamed for Jesus ending up in his predicament, the price of diamonds or rents, or even for having big noses, and monopolising global wealth; why are they so commonly disliked as a race?

I've heard numerous examples of why, but nothing that really seemed to apply. Is it simply racism?

edit: I've read the above again - it does seem pretty anti-semitic considering the way I've written my questions. Sorry for that. It's a genuine question though.

Two semi-religious reasons. Institutionalized hate stemming from the early Catholic church due to Jewish persons not recognizing Jesus as the messiah and then killing him. Now is any of that true? I would lean more towards the institutionalized hatred by the other two "major religions" Christianity and the Muslim faith.

As for the OP, beware of anything coming out of Greenville, TX. I grew up close enough and knew enough people from there to speak with authority on the subject.

To be racist you have to be picking on a race, as there are black Jews from Ethiopia, White Jews from Poland and Arab Jews how the hell can it be racist? Being Jewish isn't a race I would argue, simply a religion.

The letter is a diatribe, could not read it all the way thru as it lacks clarity.

It's both. Judaism is inherited via your mother, but you can also convert. Since it's passed down in family (on the maternal side), it's as much race as religion (e.g. most American Jews today are descendants of eastern-European converts, who are not descendants of Israelites).
