Amazon 7 #1 May 7, 2008 http://www.military.com/features/0,15240,167090,00.html?ESRC=airforce.nl GRAFENWOHR, Germany -- Legislation that would restrict the sale of certain men's magazines on U.S. military bases around the world would be bad for morale, according to soldiers at Grafenwöhr. U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., has introduced legislation that would close a loophole in the current law that allows the sale of some sexually explicit material on military bases by lowering the threshold required to deem material "sexually explicit." http://randazza.wordpress.com/2008/04/28/paul-broun-hates-our-freedom-and-hates-our-troops/ Forgive the headline, but I just love feeding conservatives neo-cons their own feces. Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., has proposed H.R. 5821, the so-called “Military Honor and Decency Act” to close a “loophole” in the law that allows nudie magazines to be sold on military bases. Irony alert! If it passes, the people who are fighting the taliban, allegedly to protect our freedom, will no longer have the freedom to buy the latest issue of Penthouse. “Our troops should not see their honor sullied so that the moguls behind magazines like Playboy and Penthouse can profit,” said Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., unveiling his House bill April 16. (source) Broun trotted out the typical anti-porn rhetoric, spouted from pulpits and womens’ studies departments nationwide. “Allowing sale of pornography on military bases has harmed military men and women by escalating the number of violent, sexual crimes, feeding a base addiction, eroding the family as the primary building block of society, and denigrating the moral standing of our troops both here and abroad.” (source) If our military members are so fragile that they can’t take the sight of a naked woman (or man) in a magazine without falling apart, we’re going to need to hire some mercenaries to handle our foreign expeditions. Anyone soft enough to lose it over Penthouse isn’t really fit to write traffic tickets, let alone tote an M-16.

Edit: Paul Broun doesn't hate our freedoms, he hates your freedoms if they involve thinking/saying/doing things he doesn't believe you should be thinking/saying/doing."That looks dangerous." Darius11 12 #6 May 7, 2008 That’s a great idea. Save that testosterone for killing. We should have no sexual release for our military people cause we all know denying your sexual urges is the best way to deal with them. Amazon 7 #8 May 7, 2008 I am just amazed that one of the far religious right wing congress critters has not suggested making it mandatory for deployed troops to carry a bible with them as part of their field kit. With the crap that was going on at the USAF Academy.....I just think there are far too many legislators from the bible belt just itchin to ensure all our troops are indeed....christian soldiers1. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before. Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; forward into battle see his banners go! Refrain: Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before. 2. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee; on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory! Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise; brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise. (Refrain) 3. Like a mighty army moves the church of God; brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod. We are not divided, all one body we, one in hope and doctrine, one in charity. (Refrain) 4. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane, but the church of Jesus constant will remain. Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail; we have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail. (Refrain) 5. Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng, blend with ours your voices in the triumph song. Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King, this through countless ages men and angels sing. (Refrain)

warpedskydiver 0 #15 May 8, 2008 Dan as always the guys who seem to get into trouble in a CONUS/Barracks rat situation seem to be the exact type that does the ass kicking in the field. Many of our nations finest heroes were considered by the officers, and ass kissers above them, to be " terrible soldiers" before the shit hit the fan.An old MSG once told me that if you show me a man who never got into any trouble or fights at all, I will show you an ass kisser, and a wussy. He had BTDT, and back several times, I think he also did 3 or 4 rotations into PRVN, before he went on to units more specialized than the 82nd.
