London Mayor

So Boris won the race to be London's new Mayor and red Ken is out tending his newts once more. I thought it was interesting that Boris Johnson is from a Muslim family of Turkish origin and that his grandfather knew the Quran my memory. No doubt when Obama wins the Presidency they will find lots of mutual ground on which to build a interesting relationship.
Good luck to them both. ;)

Being that Mr. Johnson is a "conservative" and Sen. Obama is a Marxist....and that Sen. Obama said that the first thing he'd do as President is meet with the enemies of the US, I doubt they'd have much common ground at all. :S:P

I've known of the election for a while, but not read up on it too well. Doesn't Paris have one coming up too?

What's the mood over there? Happy to have the Tories in the seat? ;)

Yeah, but seeing as how Tony B Liar is s'posed to be a leftie and GWB ultra right - they sure seemed to get along fine enough.

The Torries aren't in power yet... Boris is only the Mayor of a city and a good hand full of local government seats went to The Blues... it's an indication that the country is not pleased withthe current government... but it's early days and only an indication....

Should be intersting times for the Reds though.

Interesting times, to early to tell yet. Boris is a real charicter but that doesn't mean that he'll be any good, only time will tell. At the moment he is popular. Ken had been in the job a long time. I didn't always agree with him but I think he didn't do a bad job, I'm just glad Brian Padock didn't get in.
As for Obama, I guess you are paraphrasing;) A Marxist??? Are you sure Max? :D

The best headline of the day had to go to the FT which said "Black and Blue Brown" :D

I'm using a broad brush of course, but he is widely known to be the most liberal Senator (even more so than Sen. Kennedy or Kerry) on Capitol Hill.

As to the UK Conservative Party, I thought I read somewhere there was quite the up-tick in their representation recently (up 40% is that right)??

Either way, he's in a good shape to meet with NYC's RINO Mayor - Mr. Bloomberg. ;)

Labour must be shitting bricks!!!

The only time politicians bothers to listen anyone is when they get voted out. New Labour are the absolute fucking worst at not listening.

Worse even than George W. Bush's administration?

Worse for Britain if not the world - yes, I believe so.

Only time will tell but Boris does not have a track record.

I'm much more concerned about the BNP getting a seat>:(

Agree about the BNP - I saw that BNP twat's Assembly seat acceptance speech, he sounded like a thug in the best Munich beer-hall tradition. Even if they can't agree on anything else, I hope the other parts freeze that cunt out of decision-making.

They've come round to putting a Irish person in their litrature and are making out that they care about the Irish now:S Actually it was hard to tell between the BNP's manifesto and the Christian alliance who seemed morer preocupied about stopping a Mosque being built than running London.

It is a democracy and he got the most votes (BTW I in no way support the BNP or their policies, I only support democracy).

As for Ken and Boris, my view was that Ken tried to run everything himself, Boris will be more likely to get people who really know what they are talking about to advise him.

on refelection I'd even go so far as to say it is a good thing that the BNP got a seat. The reason behind my thinking is that

A) with one seat they can do no real harm and it keeps them involved in the political process which is a lot better than giving up and just turning to the wholescale violence of the far right of the 70/80s

B) Hopefully it will be a wake up call for the Conservatives who currently occupy the midle ground whilst appearing leftist and wishy washy leaving a political gap on the right in which the BNP can only hope to gain from. The inverse could be said of the New Labour party and the far left socialists and communists.

C) Just maybe mainstream polititcians can positivly influence those who have become involved with the BNP and get them to start change of their party from within. (i know not all that likely but you never know)

D) Its a wake up call for those in our countries who think that racisim is a thing of the past.
