freethefly 6 #2 April 18, 2008 No More War By Eddie Vedder I speak for a man who gave for this land Took a bullet in the back for his pay Spilled his blood in the dirt and the dust He's back to say: What he has seen is hard to believe And it does no good to just pray He asks of us to stand And we must end this war today With his mind, he's saying, "No more!" With his heart, he's saying, "No more!" With his life he's saying, "No more war!" With his eyes, he's saying, "No more!" With his body, he's saying, "No more!" With his voice, he's saying, "No more war!" Yeah, nothing's too good for a veteran Yeah, this is what they say So nothing is what they will get And there's no American way The lies we were told to get us to go Were criminal (?)... let us be straight Let's get to the point where our voices get heard And I know what I'll say With his mind, he's saying, "No more!" With his heart, he's saying, "No more!" With his life he's saying, "No more war!" With his eyes, he's saying, "No more!" With his voice, he's saying, "No more!" With his body, he's saying, "No more war!" No more innocents dying No more terror rising No more eulogizing No more evangelizing No more presidents lying No more war With our minds, we're saying, "No more!" With our hearts, we're saying, "No more!" With our lives, we're saying, "No more war!""...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." AWL71 0 #3 April 18, 2008 I respect this soldiers service but it begs the following question: Why is he against the war? Because he dislikes war or because he got paralyzed? When you join the military the risk of war and injury is part of the job. Had he not gotten paralyzed would he have made this documentary? The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help. Amazon 7 #4 April 18, 2008 It goes directly to the support or lack of support the thousands of veterans recive by all the Americans... who "Support Our Troops". This is the flip side of what it means to serve and what happens to far more veterans who are coming home injured and disabled. A few thousands have died serving their country. Many thousands more are severly injured and will live with that their entire lives. Too many Americans forget those veterans...but their families certainly do not... they are the ones stuck with the cost of going to a war that did not need to be faught. A war that was based on incompetence and a bring it on mentality by a bunch of men in an administration who had not been subjected to the REAL cost of war. They were in a rush to profit for themselves and their friends.. and gave no thought to young men like this

But Jeanne, supporting the troops requires no more than displaying a bumper sticker and voting for Bush and his cronies to continue the war indefinitely.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

Amazon 7 #7 April 19, 2008 I am of the belief that we should have a very strong military.... and we need to use them sparingly for truely important missions... not to enrich a bunch of fucknuggets who feel THEY themselves are too good to serve. Other than my change to your post, I couldn't agree more. My opinion is along the Swiss citizen/soldier model.
