(Note to readers: An "SMLE" is a British rifle, called a short-magazine-Lee-Enfield.) Funny, I read that as a suggestion to rebuild the British Empire. Nothing likely to make people at home feel better than invading some far-off country and massacring the locals with massive amounts of firepower... oh, wait, hang on a sec....(Oh, and fyi your name for the SMLE has a couple too many hyphens in it!) vortexring 0 #54 April 17, 2008 Quote I used to live in Iran so i know what you mean. I think that’s why I enjoy the small stuff so much because when you don’t have them they aren’t so small. I always believed a good dose of 'misery' helped bring around that mentality. From certain work I've done in my life I certainly had plenty of doses. Not so much in an extreme dramatic sense - more in a sense of having to do without; whether it was from sleep, rest, food and comfort, and what have you. So to later be in a position to have a hot bath, enjoy a cup of tea and a fag or simply lie in bed would be a great luxury. Even now, if I'm soon to be off to 'sandy places' I'll feel a bit envious of families out enjoying their weekend say; where come the Sunday evening they'll be relaxing whilst I'll be offski for months on end. But these are all aspects of ones life that are changeable. How can you change idiots in call centres? You can't even effectively avoid them. There are numerous means to get rich quick - but whilst I know some fairly successful well off individuals, not a single one of them; despite their wealth, called it a day and went off and retired to potter around the garden or go on a permanent holiday. They still have to phone the call centres - they still live their lives surrounded by all this unnecessary shit. Whilst I'm being a bit of a moany fucker it's only to make the point - I'm certainly aware of the numerous good things in life but I'm still utterly horrified at all the things shit - our societies are literally breaking down before our eyes and we're all too fundamentally self absorbed to notice and bother about it. The general apathy! 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.' You're in the known, I see. To re-install a well working New British Empire, at 1st the Princess of Wales and her gardener/husband should be exported to NSW to a horse & sheep farm. They will not see a difference, perhaps claim a bit about the weather. But, that will not be an issue: Both wear giant hats, so what. Then, the NBE has to be re-built into the extensions of the 20th. Next step: You island and us mainland monkeys will start to recreate a new fine world (needs some amendments in governments at first, but we're under no time pressure) within NBE's borders. Shall the freshly designed Berlusconi be invited, too? Anyhow, Vortex has to add some bright proposals. Oh man, I'm in the mood to create an entire new universe - must've been the sun we had today! SMLE: Yep, 3 hyphens are too much but, instead of that, 2 capital letters are missing. dudeist skydiver # 3105

crwtom 0 #68 April 18, 2008 Quote What's the cause of it? Are human beings just shit? it's the light bulbs -- they watch us everyday and they are all connected through wires which they use to communicate with each other. They have started their subversion of our lives, particularly anything electrical, in preparation for their revolution. Save yourself and unscrew all light bulbs, and you'll be fine. It's not so much the inability to understand the call center guy. It's more along the lines of realizing the domestic outsourcing, foreign insourcing, and subsequent foreign insource/outsource pattern of business that's not only leading to a frustrating phone call, but also to the economic downfall of the American middle class.
