seeds of political destruction

Recommended Posts

One of the undercurrent themes of Oedipus was the idea that the prophesy destined him. He carried that flaw that would be the seed of his greatness and his destruction (his temper).

Words seem to be the key to election or the discard heap.

Clinton - seems to say things for no reason or with so little regard for the listener. Her latest idea seems to be to tone down the negativity, but still get the knife into the soft spot.

In the South, that is phrased as, "I love her to death, but..."

Today was the "Obama is a great person, but his 'bitter' comment..."

She'd do better if she said less, then less could turn on her.

Obama - honesty. He wants to give a honest and thoughtful answer. Somebody is going to feed him enough line and he is going to hook himself.

McCain - seems to make some tough statements, but they are accepted better. The "the jobs aren't coming back" statement was hard to swallow and factual.
People in Detroit have probably realized that. Candor can be tough, but appreciated more than smarmy political lies.
