happythoughts 0 #77 April 26, 2008 One problem for the Palestinians is that 20 armed guys with a rocket launcher show up at your back yard. They are doing their thing. What options does the general homeowner have at this point? The Israelis show up and bulldoze the place to provide an adequate buffer, but with good enough technology, a good buffer is becoming irrelevant. Then, the bulldozing is an excuse for another round of rockets. So, there is a lot of attack/retaliate which will remain an excuse for driving an endless cycle. Basically, the idea of all guerilla warfare is to make the business climate untenable. Eventually, people have to work things out, ala Northern Ireland, or nobody wins. 500 lb bombs dropped from planes are just as capable as killing civilians as 500 lb bombs delivered by van. The effect is the same, the technology is different. No virtue for any side. The idea of "we were here first" is a ludicrous standpoint. At some point, the winning side has flip-flopped for 3,000 years. They are all there now and they need to deal with that. If they want to continue the war, then they should exterminate each others leadership and see if that motivates anyone.

I thought I remembered that the current Infida started when Arial Sharon went to the Temple Mount in defiance of the Palestinans.
